So I started to install my 2.5 inch rough country levelling kit today on my 2020 ranger. Wow what a fiasco. The cv axle assembly slipped out and trying to push it back in, I broke one of the inside rollers. So I had to purchase another and will be trying to install that in a couple days when it gets here. That inner housing part going to the main axle is supposed to just pry out right? Doesn't seem to want to move...

I know it doesn't say it in the instructions, but when I did mine I ended up removing the axle nut on the CVs. That way it didn't pull on them when trying to get the strut back in. I have also seen some people remove the lower control arms instead of the uppers to do it.

Robert, yes I wish I would have thought of that, as i was pushing down trying to get the strut out, the darn thing popped out. Hey do you know what size that axle nut is? I have to go buy a socket for it as its larger than what i have. Is your ranger a 2020?

I honestly can't remember. I borrowed it from one of the body shop guys.

I went out and checked mine. 35mm for the axle nut.

I try not to let em pop out, but if the boot is tight, I have had luck popping em pack in. Kinda like dislocated shoulder.

Some of em I seen zip tied so that dont happen. Its kinda nice actually, They slip in easy then just cut the zip tie and it expands into place in the spindle.

Sounds like a tough situation, but yeah, the inner housing part should come out with some force. It's usually just a matter of prying it loose, but be careful not to damage anything around it. If it's stubborn, try a little heat to loosen it up or use a puller tool if you have one. Hopefully, the new parts come in soon and you'll be back on track!

I tried and failed twice to get my level kit on so I took it to an alignment shop. They must have hyperextended the axle and two days later the inner CV literally exploded. Had to get a new axle shaft. I settled up with the shop, I paid for the axle and they installed it no charge.
