1994 Ford ranger 4.0 fresh build. Truck cuts off after it sits for a while it starts back up. If I spray starting fluid into the TB it stumbles but doesn't run clean so I assume I have spark and no fuel. Brand new fuel pump. My next check will be to see if fuel pressure is on the rail when it dies. The CEL comes on but only while it's sputtering and then goes off. Any direction would be appreciated.

Go through the grounds good.

I have had everything out of this truck any chance someone knows all the grounds for my truck.

I have 1 on the front clip by the evap canister, one that goes to the starter bolt, 5 connected to the drivers fender, 1 on the back of the driver side head that connects on the firewall. All are tight. Want to add I relocated the battery to the bed and ran a ground to the starter the one that was on the starter is there but it doesn't go anywhere since the batter already has it grounded.

Ahhh.

There are two ground wires for the computer...those in the oem configuration get janky....and are the main concern with me....with the relocation I assume you cut the factory ends off and am tempted to assume they should be solid.

The fuel pump connection, the fuel pump and ecm relay....and Inertia switch can be at bypassed temporarily to eliminate connection issues there.

Did you buy a decent pump? Alot of amazon special type stuff ive found is garbage off the shelf

I will assume these are the ECM grounds I will take them off and make sure they are touching ground I will ohm them first. Those are on the driver side fender same side as the ECM and about 6 or 8 inches away. Fuel pump is orileys lifetime warranty pump. It is showing 32 PSI while running clean. When it cut off it was up to almost 35 psi. Doesn't stumble just dies. Still has fuel pressure. I left the key on and it makes a clicking sound now and again. Truck does not start back, I will get a spark tester and check again on Monday. Thank you all for the replies start back. I will get a spark tester and check again on Monday. I would think I am looking at one of 3 things. Ground problem,ECM ,or some
weird injection problem. Thank you all for the replies.

Checked spark today and have spark and fuel pressure. However, engine won't start after idling for a bit. So now , correct me if I am wrong, injection pulse would be the next thing. If I have no injection pulse this would point to a bad PC? Is there a good way to check for injection pulse during cranking. Any other ideas would be appreciated.

1994 was the last year for separate spark module(EDIS-6) and fuel module(the computer)

Yes, it reads like a fuel issue
There are 3 capacitors in the computer that will leak after 20+ years, easy to replace, and under $2 to fix
I would have a look in the computer

Look here: http://www.auto-diagnostics.info/ford_eec_iv
The 3 Blue barrels are the capacitors that leak, they can be at different places on the board
Take pictures to get the uF and Volts for each, also orientation, they have a + and - direction

You can replace with higher Volt, i.e. 16v can be replaced with 50v or 100v, but uF must be the same
Blue or black case doesn't matter

Move each with finger, should be tight, obviously if you see discoloration under one then its leaking, but replace all 3 while you can, as they WILL LEAK, period
