replaced coil pack, definitely started up a lot smoother when the engine was cool, but still wouldnt start when it was hot, still no spark when the engine is warm
I have a 90 ranger with a 4.0 n an automatic. i had the same problem as this. 2 weeks of racking my brain later, it turned out to be the ground wire where it bolts to the frame from the battery. theres a tab thats halfway through the length of the wire that bolts to the frame in front of the passenger side coilspring bucket. it seemed good when i looked at it but with a good pull after taking it off the frame it pulled right apart with that beautiful green tint to it. replaced it with 2 new cables ( one from battery to frame and one from same point on frame to where the cable hooked to the engine) and cranked it over and it fired right up. i also added an extra ground from the body to the battery for safe measure, got a few add ons that could of used it. don't know if it'll help but its worth a shot looking into for a cheap easy fix. best of luck to ya!!!
