Cracked cylinder head or bad head gasket what's my best option?

Yeah my only worry is it's getting worse little by little so how long will it last?

How can I tell if the previous owner put stop leak in it? If I knew he had done that it might steer me towards running it until it won't run anymore because I've been looking into it and it looks like that stuff clogs everything up and is nasty stuff

You'd probable be able to see signs of it in the radiator. Usually looks like mud.

Would stop leak fix this kind of issue in an attempt to make it past as long as possible?

I wouldn't use it if you intend to keep the vehicle. That's just me. Can it work? Absolutely.
