Couple more BII projects

I was given an 86 or thereabout BII the other day so I figured that sence I sold my Ranger I might start a build on this one.

As you can see its in pretty bad shape. Homemade lift, toe in is way off. Bad chop on the top, no dash. It has a good running 2.8 and a five spd tranny. Diffs are good. I'll try to get more pics up.

So what do you think? should I try it, or scrap it? I have another one that isn't quite the challange. This is the one I was gonna build after the ranger, but it sold too fast.

I would fix the brown one and scrap/part out the chopped top one IMO.

i would keep that chopped one and put a shortened fullsize bronco topper on it (like i said on b2.org) or put a rag top on it and be a beach cruiser or something. it would look cool

Thanks guys for the input. I don't have a bunch of money to put into either one of them, but I really would like to make something out of the chopped one. If nothing else just to see if I can. I will put the brown one back together tho. I have the 2.9 ready to go in.

It caught fire on me about a year ago. Bad o-ring on the FPR. It is a really good DD and I will prolly need it soon. I have almost 200,000 on my 99 Dodge Ram 1500.

beach cruiser he lives i AZ no beach there alot of sand but NO BEACH

I wish my Michigan BII was as rust free as yours. I would fix the brown one then try and fix the chopped one without spending more then 50 bucks. Use the brown one as a DD and the copped one as a desert toy. It's like an ATV but bigger.

That was my train of thought. I will use some of the money from the Ranger and just do a little to the chopped and make the brown one my main project. So here is the short list on the build.
1. Yank the body on Brownie
2. Detail the frame and engine compartment
3. Add a 2" lift
4. Buy body lift kit 2"
5. Install 2.9
6. And see what comes next

Here is what I have wanted to do with a chopped B2 for a long time now. From the door to the taillights, cap the top off with Ranger bed rails. There is a chopped B2 here that still has the roof but did that. Flat panel the dash with just the gauges you need, rhino line the whole interior and get some of those cheap plastic bucket seats. Rain won't hurt it. Simple cage (tie the windshield posts into it), and a bikini top (jeep style). Cut the fenders to fit 33s and 2" of lift total. Sliders and other armor as you feel you need.

I have too many vehicles right now or I would probably have done this by now...

Projects are at a crawl. It has been really cold here for AZ., and I am a warm weather man myself. I have no heat in my shop so I haven't done anything lately. The guy that bought my ranger will be here to pick it up the 1stof Jan. and the dan thing popped a freeze plug. I had it in the shop out of the weather but that didn't help. Gotta pull the engine again and replace the freeze plug. My nephew hasn't brought the chopped Bronco II over yet either. Guess I will have to go get it myself. I will get going one of these days soon I hope. Its hell being a old man when is cold...lol

I know what you mean. I'm facing a knee replacement in the next year or so and the cold just KILLS me... I was hoping to make it to 50 before the knee replacement though, it doesn't look like I'll make it 3 years...

As I said in my Ranger thread, I have good news and bad news. The guy backed out of the ranger buy. So I will be continueing work on it. The good news is that I wanted to keep it anyway. I could have used the money, but it will just slow things down a bit. I still intend to work on the BII at the same time, as I have a two bay shop. Got the paint for the Ranger today and have some priming and sanding already done. Gonna try the tractor paint. Wish me luck.
