It don't matter if it's 0-30, it's those sudden take off's like that is what gets others and yourself injured. Somebody may not see you coming down the road they pull out if front of you and you have no time to react and BAM your screwed. It's your fault because you were speeding.

If your not going over the speed limit, how is it speeding? He said they didnt go over the speed limit, so i assume it was probably 50 or so. Maybe im wrong but i dont see anything illegal there

yeah the speed limit was 50mph. i'm too cautious and baby my truck too much to speed. but i guess he's saying that the rapid, pedal to the metal acceleration is the dangerous part and i sort of understand where he's coming from. but really, it was all legal and innocent fun. and a bit of a waste of gas lol

I would think that, as for not wanting to "encourage" illegal speeds, an abandoned airstrip, with no maintenance, would be much more dangerous than a straight stretch of back road, with regular maintenance. "Don't go fast on the road, kids! Kill yourself on the airstrip instead."

But that's just me and I'm not usually right.

Yeah I edited it... I have drag raced on both back-roads and on the airstrip.... but people don't like to hear about racing on the highways

My car was built and prepped for high speed handling and drag racing.... the only difference of doing it on a road and not a drag strip was that I got less traction w/o a proper burn-box. And i was breaking the law.... past that, my drag car handled racing the exact same from the abandoned airstrip, as it did on the drag strip (but I went a helluva lot faster with more time to build speed)

Everybody does stupid things, but racing a (RACE-CAR) never felt stupid.... if I was ever doing anything really stupid it was jumping railroad tracks in my ranger while (obeying the posted speed limit)

Right there with you. Won't even go into the stupid stuff that should have killed me. I was making the comments not for your benefit, but instead for the watchers. Just kind of a grumpy statement.

everyoneeeee does something stupid at some point or another. some of us are so badass that we do stupid things at many points kinda like the time i rolled my '93 splash three times over in a ditch..
