ok i was wanting to know if i could take my truck which is 4x4 and put the axles under the 2x4. my buddy has a 96 ranger 2x4 ext cab like mine just newer and 2x4 with 160,000 or so miles 5 speed 2.3 or somethan. he wants 600. it has lil rust under it. could i take my motor tranny axles on it? my truck needs a bed and bumpers. this truck is complete and no dents

It's possible but requires way too much work to make it worth while.

its gonna take bout as much money to fix mine up now and a lot of work. its worth it just wantn to know if the frames are the same and would everythang would bolt up.

Why not put that body on your frame? Seems like less work to me.

well i would i am goona have to investigate more and more. my frame is pretty rusty i cant even put a hitch on it.

if your frame is that bad.. i say go for it! it won't be an overnight project. but it seems worthwhile to me, if you want to keep that truck. DO IT.. just keep us posted with pics and stuff lol

If your talking about putting your d35 under his truck it will require welding in a 4x4 crossmember I believe. But I might be misunderstanding your plans. If your getting his truck and pulling the front end out maybe sas with a jeep d30?

yes i will put my d35 under it. and if thats so i would just use mine that i have now. i dont think it would be that hard just time consuming.

you have to swap engine cross members. the 2wd and the 4wd cross members are set up different.

Don't waste your time or money....buy a 4x4. This topic has been talked about way to often on this site, Bro. Any questions you have just use the search area at the top of the forums on the right hand site of the page.

Pretty muc the fab for the crossmember is the really hard time consuming part, how much is your buddy gonna give you his truck for? You might just wanna drive it 2wd with locker til you can afford the next 4x4

Since you've already got your truck, you don't really need to buy any extra parts. This topic has been brought up yes, but usually with the answer of "by the time you buy all the parts you could have bought a 4x4". Since you have everything already, go for it. If your putting a lift on you will be taking a lot of the parts off anyway. Will take a lot of time though, but if your up for it have at it!
