nevermind... I was looking on the block, if I woulda just opened my eyes i would've seen it, spliced into one of the heatercore lines. seems like an odd place to get an accurate reading.

The one in the heater line is the sensor for the computer. If it's a gauge problem, that one is usually called the temp. switch. It is located on the drivers side, near the back of the block, below the oil pressure sending unit (dont get them confused). I had to replace both. Oil pressure I did from above. Cooland temp switch I did from below. Drain the coolant or work real fast or you're gonna get a face full of coolant. It doesn't taste as good as some people say.

well i really dont care what the guage says as long as it runs right, but i don't think the sensor was my problem after all. i got an IR temp gun and checked the temp on the hoses, after about 15 minbs sitting there idling it was 115 on the bottom and 145 on the top..... i think the clutch fan is stuck, so im going to replace it today. thanks for the input though, so the top one is oil pressure, middle is coolant sending unit and bottom one is oil level?

There seems to be a rash of this on the 94s this week...is your truck overheating or running too cold on the temp guage?

it runs too cold, but it is in the "normal" range just never touches the letters... i think im just gonna leave it alone for now though, i was gonna change the clutch on the fan but it really dosen't seem locked up when i spin it by hand, it's just super noisy when the truck is running. this thing WILL run tip top eventually, im onto something else now with the screen in the fuel pump, i think it's partially plugged, i'll know when i use whats left in the tank and drop it for sure. after all the time money I've thrown at this truck im not gonna give up on her!

I hear you on that...I've rebuilt mine from the frame up...haven't driven it in 4 years...I'm thinking of calling it "The Money Pit"...paint it green with a bunch of Gold $$$$$ signs...

Anyways...if it's otherwise running fine I'd go with leaving it too...with the cold weather coming it's always nice to have a good heater so checking it now is a good idea...

yea it dosen't get too cold here so im not worried about the heater, but it really dosen't run that good, the reason i said im thinking the screen is partially plugged in the fuel pump is beacause the tank was out of the truck for a while when i bought it and some of the problems im having with it started after i put it back together according to the previous owner (friend of the family). so that's the next thing. and I hear you on the money pit! luckily i only paid 600 for the thing or i'd really be mad about it but for what i paid for it i still think im money ahead, it is a ranger after all. Thanks for your input guys!
