1988 ford ranger 2.9l complete plug and play aftermarket wiring harness. Is there a good one out there. Having problems locating the flat plug that gos to distributor. Seeing that this is failing figured that it won't be the last week point in the harness. So if anyone knows a good harness replacement with correct plug ends I would appreciate the help. Thanks

Make sure it works with your 88. Says it will on my 86.

I dont know of anywhere to source a complete, new, engine wiring harness no.

Once in a great while, NOS harnesses show up on eBay but they are incredibly rare. Nobody is making brand new ones though. They'd almost be a one-off item and there were so many variations in cabs, engines, transmissions, etc.

Thanks for the tips ordered a plug off Amazon hope it resolves the problem. Been fighting a rough running new engine and been throwing parts at it. Had a buddy take a shot at it and found when he grabbed the distributor plug it started running great.

Well plug fixed the dieing problem, she ideas fine but still when run her up to 2000rpm no power and massive stumble. Still throwing parts at it. Today getting new coil and ecm on its way next week. Every single module has been replaced after this i will keep ya up to date on progress. Anything ya can think of let me know. Oh ya adding 2 more ground straps today as well.

Id spend 35 bucks on a code reader before you shotgun any more parts at it.

As well as checking fuel pressure/timing.

Yes timming spot on fuel pressure correct? Hell only have the two parts left. If that don't work I'm totally stumped. Took to a buddys auto shop he spent 8 hrs on it and stumped him. Hopping last two parts and extra ground straps fix it. I'll let ya know that I come up with.

pressure. and volume under load.

volume in regards to delivery at injector and from injector.

So how do you adjust volume and pressure? Had all the injectors cleaned and tested at a reputable injectors shop he tested fuel rail and diaphragm. All basically new.

The fuel pump(s) mostly do volume and pressure, and of course that small pressure regulator. You can measure the volume by tapping the return line into a bucket, activate the pumps and then see how much comes out in a minute or whatever the unit of measure is.
Clogged catalytic converter?

yes. if the injectors were just done and you are confident nothing has got past the filter then a volume test pre and post regulator is not too difficult. but if the psi is good considering the injectors are known its unlikely needed.

unplug the map sensor and see what it does and make sure it has clean vacuum and no mud dobbers.

I just dropped it off st a shop that specializes in injection and electrical trouble shooting. As I was driving there I turned on wipers and it started stalling turn off wipers and gos back to only running poorly at 2000 rpm again???

I read some complicated threads describing how some ignition wiring is supposed to be shielded from interference from other wires or the signal going to, or coming from, the ECU will get corrupted. What you describe reminds me of that. Good luck, I was unable to find an automotive electrical expert around my area last year who was willing to work on a '90 Ford.

I got the same answer from a tec. He still thinks i need to change out the tfi for the 3rd time with a motor craft in steady of these aftermarket ones. Dang it found one for $180 buck. Crazy. I paid 100 bucks for the complete distributor with tfi on it. I'll let every on kno if it works. Oh also cut open wiring harnesses and only found 1 wire that is shielded with foil rapped wire.
