Community interest: Slide-in camper

Would you build a camper for your ranger?

@Dirtman is adamant that railroads do not exist, along with north Dakota and maybe a few other things...

Could? Yes. Would? Probably not.
Capri Camper and Travellite both make slide-ins for mid-size trucks. I’d have to get creative because my Supercab’s bed isn’t long enough for me to sleep lengthwise. Search for “Sin Rumbo” on YouTube for ideas. It’s a bit easier for him because he’s in South America and has a regular cab longbed.

Birds... you forgot birds.

Birds exist. They just are not real. Real birds were wiped out and replaced with ultra realistic surveillance drones by the government. When a "bird" poops on your car, it's actually dropped a tracking beacon. This process began in the 70's and was completed in the early 2000's. There are now no biologically "living" birds left.

Im so tired of explaining everything to you people!

Maybe you don’t exist... did you ever think of that?

Maybe you’re just PetrolumJunkie with a fake beard... You need to prove that you exist.

You need to prove that you exist.

Existence is relative. We all may or may not exist, but if we do not exist as we know it, what we perceive still exists to us even if none of us exist. I refer you to the observation theories of quantum physics. The thought experiment of Erwin Schrodinger for one but more notably the double slit single photon experiment where the observed and unobserved photon react completely different. Are we observed, therefore are we forced to react a certain way because we therefore exist as a single waveform? Or are we unobserved and therefore completely theoretical? We observe the universe but does the universe observe us?

Your thoughts?

You could have simply stated... cantaloupe.

You could have simply stated... cantaloupe.

The cantaloupe argument is invalid in this instance as we have no idea whether the cantaloupe exists in two theoretical states of being? We must first collapse the waveform through observation before we can determine the cantaloupe is real or not.

You can sleep crosswise, or extend it above the cab.

The front bunk in my Skamper goes crosswise, at 6'-3" I can lay in the top bunk without touching the canvas (it is close)

The 060 is about like that, it is like mine but "cut down" to fit in a 6' bed, the main bed is the front one and the second bed is shorter (both mine are the same length)

Plenty of room in the rear for a kitchenette/seating area or storage if you are building from a clean slate too.

Or something like the Alu-Cab canopy camper which has a pop up tent and bed that extends lengthwise above the cab could be a short bed solution too. The bed sort of flips down and runs the length of the bed and into the portion above the cab.

I get what you mean but if you wanted to there are workarounds for a shorter bed.

Stop asking me to think.

Yeah, you sleep crosswise in the Capri Cowboy model with no cab overhang, big advantage is it’s pretty light at 675 lb. Their Retreat model has an overhang and more room but sometimes the midsize model shows up on the website and sometimes it doesn’t. The Travellite midsize you can get an optional shower but it weighs more and if I got one I’d put airbags on the rear axle. It’s not overweight but it’s near the limit.

What's wrong with thinking?

Another alternative:

Shown on Tacoma Crew Cab, anything a Toyota can do, Ford can do better?

As @1990RangerinSK hinted, the Adventurer 76r was a little sketchy on the 2 lane roads they call hi-ways in southern Saskatchewan, when meeting 18 wheelers coming other way on my lifted truck. E rated rear tires, sway bar and no lift on my daughter's B4000 did a lot better.

I have an 87 Ranger Custom 4x2...it doesn't have the suspension to hold a camper sadly, it would be great though as it has a 7 foot bed, so it would comfortably sleep 1-2 people if you built something like a platform on the floor of it, but doing anything like that would pretty quickly overload the pickup. The springs on it are too soft LOL....since its the bare basic model truck I don't think it has any payload capacity, I think the original owner bought it as cheap as he could to use it as a commuter vehicle. Only upgrade is it has dealer installed A/C and the 2.9L V6 instead of the 4 cylinder.
