Colored Nylon Vacuum Lines

Hello, why did Ford use nylon colored vacuum lines as opposed to rubber lines? I have a 1999 Ford Ranger XLT, 3L Flex fuel and like to know the sizes and where can I get some?

nylon has more resistance to collapsing and decomposing than rubber.

and color coding makes it easy to make a EPA required sticker under the hood and reduces the chance of connecting things wrong. If you can find any with ~1/8" ID or 3mm ID that would work fine I imagine, I'm pretty sure there's some HDPE tubing that would work fine which is like ice maker tubing... or something like THIS, there's some 1/8" nylon available as well...

Is there tubing which is a little more heat resistant?

The HDPE mentioned above is probably the most heat resistant unless you use metal tubing. Really, as long as you don't let it touch exhaust, heat shouldn't be a problem. Zip-ties are your friend.
