Coleman Liquid Fuel

I love me some Coleman stuff... well everything but my 508 at the moment. But my problem is... I like ALL collectables. From bubble gum machines to double bladed axes. A couple pictures from my antiques booth... you will see a lantern box... it contained a brand new 71 or 72 lantern... never lit with all the paper work and new mantles. I sold it for $125. Just one of the pieces I wish I would have kept. None of this stuff was even part of my personal collection... I have it bad.

Shran mentioned cast iron cookware... I sold all mine to a local dealer in one shot. It was a good payday. Now I search for more...

Someone on a Facebook group was asking about a regulator for a 508 and someone else posted this:

Maybe it is what you are after?

Man… that is exactly what I needed.... cause I don't anymore!

I just ordered one... lets hope they really have it. I actually found a guy on the Coleman forums that has a new one out of the package... after the holidays... I'm gonna buy that one too.

Thanks for sharing that... and good memory!

Can't wait to get this 508 up and running.

Well I got an email that said my generator shipped yesterday...

A nice little Christmas Gift for me from me!

When I got home yesterday my 508 generator was here. Took a few minutes today to clean up the stove and install the new generator. I think it works better then it ever has.

Interesting enough... the instructions on the new generator package states "After burning the first tank of fuel through your stove, TIGHTEN the packing nut 1/2 turn. This will prevent a possible fuel leak through the packing nut."

I went through the original instructions and it never said that... and sure enough that is exactly where mine failed. At least I know now. It feels good to have this stove up and running.

Next up is the lantern I bought brand new... I know the globe is broken but it worked. Hopefully just some clean up, mantles and a new globe. Not even sure what year it is until I dig it out.

I finally got around to replace the valve in mine:

Now it just needs to warm up and quit blowing like a hurricane outside so I can try to light it.

Looks like the legs on the moon lander :D

It surprises me just how many different models they made.

I'm going to keep an eye out for an earlier 502 just in case my 508 gives me any more trouble. I fired it up last night for a bit and all seems well... but I remember it being fickle. Nothing worse then a stove that won't lite when you haven't had morning coffee.

I have to be really careful... I'm a collector by nature. I could sure go broke with the Coleman stuff in a big hurry. There is one lantern I had never seen until I started browsing the Coleman forums.

I just "NEED" one of these...

Same with the lanterns, aside from all the almost benign changes they did to the 220/228 (like they were bored and had to keep tweaking things) there are a bunch of other models floating around. And they did a bunch weird stuff for the Canadian market too.

Good work doods! Love seeing those little stoves up and running.

Those chrome lanterns are cool. Definitely need to find one. I see that back prior to the 50's, it was pretty common for lanterns to have chrome/nickel? plated founts. I want one of those. Probably have to really save up my pennies for that one.

Nickel plates brass... unless you sneak up on one they bring good money.

I don’t know how much farther back my collection will go... I really want a 200A though. I saw two on FB marketplace the other day but they were in the middle of Missouri and $100.

If you want a 200A... there is a guy trying to sell about 50 of them on the Coleman forums.

That chrome sportsman edition is offered for $225... never lit. I want/hope to find an experienced one for way less.

Let me see what I can round up. I've seen several for sale lately for around $20... I bet I can find ya a cheap one.

I need to get busy this year and find a disc to make myself a skottle or cowboy wok. I know they're around I just haven't been asking the farm boys at rural king.

What kind of disc?

Thanks! No big hurry though.

What kind of disc?

Like a disk you pull behind a tractor. A wore out blade from one of those is supposed to work well.
