Yesterday I took the day off from work because I have vacation to burn before the end of the year and I went out to start the Ranger at 8:30 am it was -13 deg F with -30 deg F windchill , it wouldn't start. Cranked many times until the battery was dead. It's the first time my Ranger wouldn't start since the last time I replaced the battery on 12-3-08 (date engraved in battery). So I plugged in the block heater and hooked up a battery charger, still couldn't get it to start by 10:30 so I just left the charger on it and took a different vehicle. Came back at 6pm (still bitter cold) and it fired right up! I guess my normal daily drive of .8 mile with the Ranger might not be enough to keep the batter charged, or the life expectancy of the batteries I buy is 5 years and 2 days...

Supposed to get to -1* Sunday morning. Today I woke up to about 4" of snow and still snowing. The downfall is I have to work, I wanted to go play in the Bronco 2. I did drive into town this morning with it, and this is the first time I've driven it with good tires in snow and I have to say it handles pretty well considering its 30 years old, and didn't want to stay running this morning.

19 degrees this morning, supposed to have a high of around 24, then like I said -1* tonight then a high of about 16* tomorrow, glad I don't have to work tomorrow, however it puts a damper on getting out in my shop and finishing up a couple of wooden pen turnings. My shop isn't heated....Grrrrr.

-38* in the mine where I work with a windchill of -46*....

Brrrr is an understatement, damn wind!

It's been cold here but that's normal, goes in cycles. We never get used to liking it, just put up with it. Just makes Spring that more enjoyable. The coldest I've seen here at home was a couple days at 30 below back in '95'. Was working from home then so it didn't bother me too much. I really do feel for those of you down South who are having to go thru all this crap, ice storms are the worst.
