fabbing my own lift thru lower bucket mounts. Ran into a snag of passenger sitting 1 1/2" higher than driver. All measurements were correct, spring heights the same, lowered buckets exactly 3" both sides, but still higher on passenger. In order to compensate for the 8" shorer passenger axle beam, IS the factory passenger bucket like an inch lower than driver stock? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

any pics? ive been toying the idea of moving mine down an inch when i put my f250 towers on

I noticed something like that when I had my coil buckets off for welding on my shock towers. I didn't think to much about it other than maybe its an optical illusion due to drivers frame being different for mounting steering box:dunno: I didn't look into it much because I was in a rush to get the truck together for a race.

When I changed to early bronco coil buckets I cut them both the same length and installed them in the same positions on the frame rails (other than having to modify the drivers side to fit over the hump in the frame for the steering box)

No issues with one side being higher than the other that I noticed.

And...

I just added a piece to, in essence, just lower the top bucket mount down 3 in. as i have the HyRider optioned model.

dropping the buckets 3" will probably honestly net u more then that, it wont be alingable, id only move each down 1.5" and that gives u 2" on each side every time ive ever done it

So you are just dropping the buckets and not using drop brackets for the axles? Doesn't sound like a good idea to me. That would be why you are higher on one side.

so if i dropped mine down 1" it will give 1.5"? i already have drop brackets and such

Alignment is fine...

I moved the lower ball joints out an inch to comensate for the new height along with 2 1/4 deg. adj. nuts. I did my home-work and am no slouch when it comes to fabbing. All measurememnts are equal, just a bit higher on front corner.

can i get some pics of what u guys did to lower them? i just wanna see the best place to cut them and reweld

No cutting here...

I tried to not mess with their structural integrity too much...albeit with welding to them. Ran some passes, then threw a cover over for a bit to cool slower than normal...didn't get real technical. I simply measured down 3" from where end of spring fits into bucket, using a joggle stick to do the upper contour. Basically forming a half-wrap of the spring bucket, then did the same for size and shape of base(spring mating surface). Then welded a piece of 3 1/4 pipe to bottom of srping mating suface to mimic the "fingers" which hold top of spring. In essence i just copied what was there and moved 3" down and welded into existing (factory) bucket. Hoping to have pics soon.

i wouldnt recommend it as the only way to lift a truck, but i do it whenever i need a extra inch or two out of one of my solid axle trucks

Not a big fan...

of dropped pivot brackets. I believe it creates an exponential amount of extra force on them.

dropped pivots are fine, they also have more attachment points then stock. mine needed 2 extra bolt holes drilled that the p.o. never did:icon_confused:

anyways if u dont like the idea of pivot drops then do the cut and turn. dont have the skills/tools for that? then buy em from solo motorsports or camburg

but i have seen some hardcore trails run with ttb and drop brackets(yea most were skyjacker but still) when u get to a point where u are bending beams and pivot drops its time for d60's anyways:icon_welder:
