Help?

'97 ranger with 193k miles. EGR system works fine, truck runs great.

Got the 0401 so I replaced the DPFE w/ a motorcraft part... the new plastic one.

Now I get P1401... Any ideas?

Thanks.

The code is for a DPFE short I would start by making suere that the pins are not bent in the sensor and that there is not a broke or damaged wire may have got a bad sensor also

Thanks. I'll double check the wiring - if that's not the problem do I blame the DPFE ?

It's brand new and cost 100 bucks... would be lame if it was the problem.

was that P0401 the only code to begin with or was both codes there the first time you pulled codes? if it showed after its very possible that its a bad dpfe. OBD2 systems usually will throw all codes at once and not throw one code at a time

Well, turns out the connector was not fully seated. No code 1401 yet... waiting to see if the 0401 comes back.

Thanks!
