If it ain't broke, I can't fix it.
I'm posting this for a friend of a friend. The 2003 Ranger with 3.0L has 70K original miles and the clutch master was run dry. :shok: It has become difficult to get into gear, so we're guessing there's air in the system.

Is there a way to bleed the master with it still mounted on the vehicle?

Yes, You would bleed it by pumping the clutch pedal as you would for bleeding brakes. The bleeder is on the slave cylinder at the transmission.

I V8 swapped my Ranger some time ago and never bled it when it was a V6, so I didn't even know the slave had a bleeder screw.

I know when I converted V8, I couldn't bleed the system that way with the aftermarket slave due to air getting trapped in the master. Hopefully, he'll have more success.

Thanks guys!
