I was wondering if I could clean my fuel injectors myself instead of buying new ones? if i could soak them in injector fluid? do they make injector service kits for the 2.9l rangers?

Why do you think they need to be cleaned/replaced? It's unusual for them to not outlast the vehicle. Despite advertising by injector cleaning services, pump fuel includes plenty of cleaning agents to keep things working normally. Worst case, you can run a reasonable amount of Seafoam or other solvent through the fuel system.

cleaning

the reason why is that the truck has not been running for about 3 to 4 yrs there is no fuel getting in. we are getting fuel pressure so everything up to there is fine, so the fuel injectors must be clogged

All 6? Have you verified that the injectors are getting grounded from the computer (are they actually getting turned on)?

Pete

it wants to backfire. i will get a test light and connect it to the plug and see.
but we were also wondering if somekind of rodent made a nest in the converter from the engine to the muffler, and they clogged it up if that would make the problem of not starting also. i am gonna prob take it off and check anyways

for like $18 an injector you can have your stock ones fully cleaned, tested, and rebuilt with all new seals. check out witchhunter.com i used them for two different sets of injectors for my escort. great turnaround time too!

i know it is not the computer cuz it almost wanted to run, i think since the truck has been sitting for quite some time it is just clogged injectors and plus the power is coming from the fuel pump relay and that thing is pushing out power.

You're fooling yourself on this being clogged injectors. Check the timing to begin with, look for obvious wiring system damage and vacuum leaks, and replace the cap and rotor as maintenance items. All of that can be done for only a few dollars and a little time, and is FAR more likely to be the problem.

it has to be somewhere with the injectors cuz when we pulled out a spark plug it was not wet, or maybe a little,

AllanD had mentioned to me, while trading PM's, that a set of injectors he is using now came off an explorer 4.0 and were clogged with a syrupy buildup. This explorer as he mentioned...had sat for a simular amount of time. He cleaned/soaked them in some sort of solvent and they were as good as new.

My Bronco II had sat for six years when I got it and after replacing the computer it started right up. Not to say you have a bad computer, just that I had no problems at all with the injectors being clogged. If I remember right check pins 58,59 at on the plug at the computer. They should have 12 volts there. That will tell you if you are getting power through the injectors. The computer turns them on by grounding them.

I have been looking at why my B3000 runs like crap and burns more gas than my friends hemi. I was close to buying a set of injectors at one time. That Seafoam product sounds interesting. I've done all the typical maintenance stuff. Plugs, wires, filters and etc. Wondering if an OBD scanner will pull out some codes for emission control sensors that are not right. I'd appreciate any feedback. Injectors don't wear out??

On a 94, a paperclip will work just as well as a storebought scanner. Check the EEC-IV articles on the main TRS page.

weeeelll...not entirely in this case. a paperclip can be used to check for DTCs, and run a few rudimentary tests...but often fuel economy and minor driveability problems wont show up on these tests. EEC-IV is capable of datalogging, which is really what you'd need in this case, but it can only be accomplished with a rotunda STAR tester.
