My credo
If you can't go through it or around it, then go over it.
I don't get Chevy guys. I don not understand them. I have a friend that is a Chevy guy, He is having to work on his Chevy every weekend..... always replacing something. I also have a Chevy and am always having to replace something. You know what a chevy is ....... its a pit in the driveway you throw money into.

This comes up because I had to change the ORIGINAL starter in my 96 Ford. The only thing that has needed to be fixed. The starter was $200 ........

he said to me .... I told you that you have bought a chevy.

its like **** ........ you know my Lincoln has never let us down, All my truck needed was a starter. I have all the records for it back to 1996.... not alot of major repairs in that list....... I have put $4000 in the Blazer in less than a year.

its just guys in general, we'll take a stab at someone that has something different every chance we get

i dont like football, but i hear the idiots i work with argue over who's team is wrong or has the easier schedule or whatever all day like they are one of the players or own the team lol. same as chevy/ford/dare i say dodge

oh yeah ...... and then they ask you your favorite ...... I tell them I don't watch football because I have a life

A buddy of mine purchased a 2001 GMC 1500 little over a year ago. He gave me shit all the time because I needed to get a real truck like his. Through the course of his ownership, he has had problems with his 4wd system twice (one requiring my little truck to pluck him out of some snow) his G80 differential pooped on him, his transmission started to slip in 3rd gear and torque converter lockup clutch can not hold under towing, and in a cold morning it sounds like a diesel with all the piston slap from his 5.3L V8.

To respond, I told him Ford has a live front axle on rangers which is more reliable than his hubs, my powertrax doesn't give me fits like his diff, my trans shifts smooth and firm, and my engine purrs quietly. haha.

My wife has a ford fusion, which has never required my attention. Her pontiac before that died on its way to the dealership to trade it.

I know every vehicle will break (except maybe a stock honda), but I have seen many more GM vehicles requiring premature maintenance than any other vehicle.

first off, to answer the thread. it's just guys in general. we have to talk shit about something. if not chevy vs. ford, it's browning vs. remington, xbox vs. PS3 or AK vs. AR.

it does irritate me though......my buddy in high school always gave me shit about driving a ford and he drove a 84 cj7. his claim was that his dad (whom he did not live with, parents were divorced) drove a chevy, so i guess he jumped into the bandwagon.

as long as it's american, i dont care what you drive. i will say, they do break down a lot. for some reason they cannot figure out how to get their fuel pumps to work. i handle towing claims for an insurance company and 75% of the tows we get are chevy's (no joke, no exaggeration). 80% of those chevy tows are due to bad fuel pump. rarely is it a ford and if it is, it's for something stupid like a bad battery, starter or a flat tire.

secondly, i like watching football because i like drinking beer, they go great together, almost as good as a cigarette.

I don't like beer ........ but I do like to smoke.... I like to swing ..... smoking goes with swinging ....... no football needed, problem solved.

I was a Ford guy because my dad is a Ford guy. Over the years though I decided to give a few others a chance. I keep going back to Ford and Toyota. I will never buy another Dodge and now that the Blazer is going down the road It will most likely to be my last Chevy.

Ford just makes a superior product..... thats all there is to it. I remember changing the starter in my silverado and it took most of the afternoon and required removing the pass side control arm............ literally took longer to crawl under my ford than to change the starter......

I gave the general (GM) one shot to prove me wrong with my 94 Cadillac STS. It was a fun car, I'll admit that. But when it came time for fixing it (common occurrence), I may as well schedule a day off work because it was going to take some time. I mean, who's great idea was it to put the starter under the intake manifold?

My Dad was a Chevy guy all of my childhood. I learned to work on cars because he owned Chevy's when it comes right down to it. In 1984, my Dad bought an 83 Camaro with a 2.8 V6 and a THD250 transmission. Slowest car I have EVER driven to this day. I remember in 1995 he still had it when I bought my 89 Mustang (in my avatar). I remember him telling me "the way you're driving that thing, my Camaro will last a lot longer than that Mustang ever will". Well, 2 years later the old 2.8 took a dump at 140,000 miles. The Stang has 185,000 or so on it now, same short block (I put heads on it), same cam. My buddy owns a transmission shop, and last winter he offered to build the T5 in it for nothing because it did some whine and grind action. But it was still perfectly drivable at low rpm's. :D

Ohhhh..... that wound up being the last Chevy my Dad owned. He now owns an Explorer and a Taurus. :D

It really don't matter to me between the company's, They all break down. There all junk..Ex How many 90-94 ford explores are rolling around out there and never had a overheating or trans issue, How many 04-07 power strokes are out there that have not had head-gasket or EGR problems. How many 05-07 2500 dodge rams are out there that didnt have rear diff issues, How many 2.9 engines did ford make that don't TICK!. How many transfer cases have gone bad in the 02-07 GMC P/U's. My point is this. Every truck/car made has some sort of "Problem". Some get lucky and some don't. My 88 bronco II never stopped breaking and never did stop ticking LMAO. My 05 Duramax is now 2x4 from the t-case going out hahaha. I love It still as well as i love my 88 ranger with 2.3 turbo =)

It is a guy thing. All my friends with Fords are always working on them as well.
Always something wrong or always something to update or tuneups, transfer issues or a drive shaft replacement or balance issue. We use our stuff and it gets driven hard or taken easy. It does not matter what make a vehicle somebody has...it will always be worked on.......we are the tinkers of the world.

I work on my truck all the time. not because things are broke, or worn out... because i fix things before they fail. i dont wait till im 3 wheels on the side of the road to say, oops... i needed a ball joint.

An older truck is gonna need more work, for sure. problem is, people half ass things,

this goes beyond a guy thing. He never said anything when I said I have to fix something on my Chevy, only when I got to fix the Ford ....... the same truck, BTW, he relies on to go recover him when his shit breaks down........

The guys at my work always give one kid hell, he has a '97 F-250 4x4 with a powerstroke, the truck is in amazing shape, he bought it in Virginia a couple years ago, but for some reason eveyone always has to bug him about it being a Ford, all the while my bosses '07 GMC Duramax is a turd that I had to fix a bunch of rust on this fall.

I tried GM, (Buick Park Avenue)...so far I've had to put in an engine, 2 transmissions, bearings, and suspension parts. Needless to say it will be my last GM product. Right now I'm giving Chrysler a spin, though I know Chryslers are shit to begin with, this Grand Cherokee of mine was too good a deal to pass up, so far its just been general upkeep, other than the worn out NP249 AWD case I swapped out for a NP231. Its pretty nice for 200k miles.

The only Ford thats pissed me off has been my Dads '97 F-150. It sits a lot, it only has 90k miles, and its rotted to hell, every year we have to do a couple hundred dollars in repairs to it, it has really turned me off to that body style truck.

nope. just tired of Chevy guys having to rip on others that drive other makes because their money pit makes their penises feel small.
