on a 1st gen ranger.... i havent gotten a ranger yet. but i will be soon... been here a while, but........

my question is what would be the best route to gain clearance for 33" tires? keep in mind im a total cheapass. on most other ford trucks you can just throw on a 3" body lift and fit 33s or 35s. but its different on these 1st gen rangers. if i get a lift im looking at a rough country 4" which recommends a 33" tire to compliment it. but seeing as im a senior in high school with no job right now, what would be a cheaper solution? this would just be to hold me over for a lil while as it would be a mud truck.... till i can afford a 4-6" liftkit.... i have done research on here but havent really found the answer

body lift?

body lift / trimming?

body lift / coil spacers?

other???????? junkyard springs etc.... (elaborate)?

if it was me i would(HAVE) Thrown a set of 31s on a bone stock ranger and modified a few inches of the front fenders and that was wheeling it (jumping) it very hard and very violently so i am CERTAIN a 3 inch body lift and minor fender trimming with a fairly narrow wheel/tire would clear a 33 with no problem

i had 84 ranger with 30 on it the springs wore shot . but the tires did not rub . i was going to put 3 in body lift and 33 but some lady hit it i miss that little truck would diff go with 3 in body lift trim fenders and go beat hell out of it

i had 2nd generation.. which was my 89. and it had a 3" body lift and 33s.. no trimming

cut the hell out of the wheel openings, and put in a 2" or less coil spacer/extended shackles(easy to make if you can weld).

so you don't need to use a body lift that relocates the bumper with stack brackets that won't stay put when yanking/bumping stuff or interferes with the shift boots

i wouldn't do stiffer f150 coils you will lose travel and ride harsh.

have you looked HERE?lots of ideas in the blue link:icon_cheers:

so it seems that with a 3" body lift, i wouldnt have any problems with 32" tires... correct? if i was to do that but had a little rubbing i could just use washers as coil spacers.. yall think i could run 11.5-12.5 wide 32" tires?

or could i run 33's with the 3" BL and washer coil spacers?

if you want to keep it low, with enough clearance so you dont chew your tires to hell and you want 33's id get some 2" lift coils, chebby shackles, do serious trimming(3-4") and you might want to think about some homemade extended radius arms

its not that i want to keep it low. just trying to get enough clearance for 32's hopefully 33's until i graduate and can invest in a 4-6" suspenion lift...... without alot of trimming

i Don't care for body lifts. Why do you want to run 33's? what axles are you running? what terrain are you planning on using it on? Is it your Daily Driver?

havent gotten ranger yet, but when i do in coming weeks its going to be a 1st gen. and im just gonna be a cheap street and mud toy. in the future after i get suspension lift ill trail it probaly. i prefer 32s-33's, ive had a truck with 35's and my buddies are runnin 35s- 40s. where we play 31s or smaller arent going to cut it.

ya but if you have the dana 28 ttb front end those 33's won't be able to take alot of abuse. Unless you do the dana 35 ttb and 8.8 rear swap you could run the 33's easy.

kind of misunderstood the question at first i think. you can check these out. there actually a superlift kit is what i was told and is complete with everything except ext. brake lines and sway bar brackets. ive talked to a few people thats actually bought the kit and theve been very happy with it. these kits are designed for mild off road trucks. hope this helps a little bit. agreed that you might want to look into a dana 35,or maybe just look at a gen 2 with a 4.0 ,dana 35 and an 8.8
