When it's on tap, obviously - heat increase and fuel economy goes down. Nobody here is confused about that. It would still require the cooling system capacity for a 270hp output, just like a larger V6 or V8 would at that same level.

IMO, It is just counter productive to have an engine restricted by so many devices due to government regulations, rev limiters, ect, and yet we are constantly looking for more power. We all know these motors are De-tuned and sapped to pass emissions, and as soon as we can we put free flowing exhaust for a few more ponies, cold air intake, few more, and we un-do all the little things to get that power back.

You just named a series of items that are generally worthless in the aftermarket.

I just like ruffling ya'lls feathers really. I couldn't care less. I personally don't care for the extra maintenance of a turbo.

I honestly would just as soon not have one too. In a F-150 I would be hard pressed to pick the Ecoboost over the Coyote. Coyote has very adequate power and pretty similar mileage too though... and it sounds a lot better.

But ripping the gutless car V6 out of my last Ranger and repowering it with something worthy was enough work, I don't want to go thru that with a newer carcass. :fie:

And rev limiters are a good thing...

No no no no you see...

The rev limiter is limiting power because EVERY engine makes more power the higher the RPM's are. And an air filter clamped onto a heat conducting metal tube under the hood is a COLD air intake. The factory intake that pulls air from behind the grill is a hot air intake. Also, a free flowing exhaust that slows down the exhaust gas velocity ADDS power.

A high revving V6 will always be better than a forced induction inline 4 that makes torque from 2500rpm and up.

:icon_rofl:

Aside from the high revving V6 you pretty much just described my truck. :black_eye:

Working on a factory inspired CAI, the duals are not going anywhere though. :headbang:

Oof. My bad. :D

Some factory parts from the wrecking yard should get you a nice factory looking cold air setup.

Please explain this statement?
"Cuz I was just stating the fact that we instantly start looking for MORE POWER or TORQUE or ways we think will improve our trucks.

Where did you get confused?

A tuner on a otherwise stock boosted engine would do more than everything in a JCWhittney catalong could do for a NA engine.

Dual snorkel out of like an '85 Mustang is my inspiration. Nothing from a Mustang is involved but similar parts from other vehicles, I have pretty much everything to make it work but I need to modify a few things. As a shoe in to the rest of this a mag tested everything they could at the time and could not find an aftermarket air filter setup that outperformed the factory cold air dual snorkel in a Mustang.

See 85_Ranger4x4's response, he beat me to it.

Am I the only one that thinks it is silly to expect a truck to pull down a house AND get 40 mpg:icon_rofl:. different tools for different jobs IMO.
you can paint a house with a hammer, but it would be better if you used a paintbrush
I Concede. Yall have more knowledge and will never see my forest with all those trees in the way.:thefinger:

The problem is you keep babbling nonsense. None of us expect to get any of those things. What we do expect/appreciate are spectacular improvements in maximum power -with- increases in fuel economy. Not at the same moment, but definitely with the same hardware.

You haven't presented a good argument backed by evidence yet. That's what we are waiting for. :dunno:
