Am I the only one that thinks it is silly to expect a truck to pull down a house AND get 40 mpg:icon_rofl:. different tools for different jobs IMO.
you can paint a house with a hammer, but it would be better if you used a paintbrush
I Concede. Yall have more knowledge and will never see my forest with all those trees in the way.:thefinger:

When all you have is a hammer every problem looks like a nail...

Anyway people have different requirements for the trucks thats a given. Mine can go from mindless dd, to tractor, to work bench, to wagon ferry, to tractor hauler... in your tool category I need more of a Leatherman than a paintbrush hammer.

This is sexy

My WIP:

1970's big block Lincoln base, bullnose Bronco 5.8 HO lid, 2x 2.8 stubby snorkels with relocated inlets, DS 2.8 intake tube and carbed 2.3 PS intake tube.

Letters are now scrubbed off the lid and I am cleaning it up. It will get the correct 5.0 decal.

I would rather have the tubes going out the sides like a fox but a Ranger engine bay isn't really designed for it.

:owned:Nonsense is all I babble. LOL I just like to poke the bear every now and then:sorrysign:. If I say something dumb or nonsenseical I know yall will jump at the opportunity to correct me. Sometimes I even learn a thing or two. Sorry Guys, I really have nothing to argue about. Just carrying on with yall. Call it my twisted sense of humor, IDK, I like to go against the mainstream way of thinking and sometimes it get me in these silly arguments on the TRS forums and I get lost chasing my tail. I know the advantages of a new EB over the old turbos, I also know that todays tech is far superior to yesterdays and all of you have more Ranger Knowledge than I do :icon_thumby:. I'm just some noob who don't no nuthin:pray:

anybody got the HP#'s for the I4 EB at 2500 rpm?

If you remember your high school physics - HP = TQ * rpm/5252. Using numbers Ford has released; EB makes 310ftlbs @ 3k rpm (don't have number for 2,500)

310*3,000/5252 = 177hp

85Ranger4x4's nice graph for the Mustang is very close (~170hp) at 3k.

And I kinda like, that the exhaust is running a couple hundred degrees cooler/few decibels quieter post turbo compared to NA engine - means I've extracted more power out of the gasoline I paid money for.

:icon_twisted:High school? I've been out of high school longer than I was in school. There is a lot I don't remember, what I do remember, I wish I didn't:icon_rofl:
So, thanks for the explanation.

keep it going guys, I know where to get more popcorn if needed.

The good stuff, not microwaved crap or the kind that movie theaters sell out of huge bags?

If it's the good stuff, I'm in for another round.

1 minute and 52 seconds on Hi, good 'nuff for me.:icon_thumby:

I just like ruffling ya'lls feathers really. I couldn't care less. I personally don't care for the extra maintenance of a turbo. I know they are better today than they were a decade ago. I still don't want one. I know that if they put all this technology into a single engine, they have to promote the Fawk out of it and make it seem like the best thing since Kraft singles, but my 12 year old Corolla gets the same or better mpg than a ecoboost anything. I know, I know, but it does not have 200+ HP. But if you are getting the power band into 200Hp you AINT getting 20+ mpg. and that bitch is getting HOT. I don't care what you say more heat is coming off that turbo motor than a N/A motor.
EDIT: those squiggly lines in a box look cool btw,

I found one instance of an ecoboost turbo failing. Ever. Since 2009. Millions of them in cars trucks vans suv's ...

Why is it whenever we find out you know not what you spew, you come back with "I could care less", yankin your chain, etc ?

Also haven't heard of overheating problems in any ecoboost engine.

Both ecoboost engines in F150's are consistly getting real world MPG in the 20's on highway non towing driving speed limit. 400+ HP. Guess what else gets 20 and 21 mpg hwy ? Coyote 5.2 V8 in F150's.

My point is, You know not what you say. You don't own a turbo.

I love my twin turbo beast.

IMO, It is just counter productive to have an engine restricted by so many devices due to government regulations, rev limiters, ect, and yet we are constantly looking for more power. We all know these motors are De-tuned and sapped to pass emissions, and as soon as we can we put free flowing exhaust for a few more ponies, cold air intake, few more, and we un-do all the little things to get that power back.

Ford uses stock CAI's nowadays. No gains with aftermarket.

Are you 12 ? No body is expecting 40 mpg.

Or pull a house down. I was exaggerating for emphasis. Get a clue

There has been more than one turbo failure, I know my brother has replaced a few. FIL was complaining about how big of a PITA replacing the turbo oil lines on a 3.5EB in a F-150 is.

For turbochargers they are very reliable... but they are not fail proof.

Coyote is a 5.0, Voodoo (Shelby GT-350) is a 5.2.

is this....

is this really...

i mean..really?

yeah....it is isnt it.
