Where can I buy a center console for my 1998 Ford Ranger 3 liter automatic. I took my original out after the lid broke. Wish I didn’t take it out.

Junk yard, maybe ebay. Chances are good you are looking at the used market in any case. keep an eye out in the classified section for a Ranger being parted out.

I had a '98 with 405,000 on her miles before she finally died and I was the original owner. But on to the OP's question: Those lids ALWAYS break because as we get into our trucks to situate our bodies, we lean on the arm rest lid with all of our weight and thus, we crack the thin plastic structure of the lid. It then disintegrates with time after it cracks. You can sometimes (with a little luck) find the "box" in decent condition (or re-upholster it) but almost always, the lid will be damaged and worn out. I simply used the original hinge and made a new DIY lid covering it with foam and fabric that I found at a an upholstery remnant clearance shop. So look for the box at a junk yard, but unfortunately, be patient if you expect to find a lid in good condition. I know I couldn't find one without paying a fortune for one on the auction site so I made my own lid..... Good luck to you my fellow Ranger friend.

Thanks a lot I appreciate it.

The 60/40 bench to bucket seat conversion is always an option. Then use an explorer console or build your own like I did.

The pivot point on my '93 broke a few years after I bought it in '94. Then the latch mechanism broke. I removed it and it has been sitting on a shelf ever since. The uphostery is in perfect condition.

I knew how the fold-up armrest flexed real bad when leaning on it, but my wife didn't , so of course it snapped one day. After replacing my broken hinge and base, I glued a piece of very dense 2" x? I forgot how long piece of a hood seal from a JCB forklift on the bottom and viola! no more flex, but still has a little give to it.

Here's my 60/40 bench to bucket mod. Installed an Explorer console from the local pick and pull lot. Had to get the arm rest on-line, just the arm not the frame.

Show off. :icon_rofl:

J/k looks awesome, where did you get the seat covers?

The previous owner of my green 2000 had built a custom center console to replace the broken one. I ended up pulling it out because it had two speakers mounted in the top and with the German Shepherd I had, I could see him putting a paw through a speaker. So I built my own, mounted he speakers in the side and made two custom cup holders plus a lidded storage space and place for switches.

So what's in the stock stereo slot in the dash?

The am/fm radio is still there, but my goofy 15 dollar portable bluetooth speaker is louder and has better sound quality than the factory radio does, so it's just a clock with alot of wires now...

My 92 has an am/fm tape deck. It works still, but mostly it gets used as a clock because I haven’t dug out any cassettes and I hate the morning talk on the radio. My green Ranger though has had some stereo upgrades. Still have to do a few things but it has the normal front and rear speakers, plus a pair in the center console and a pair of subs in a custom box. Plus two amps. Previous owner had three amps, two center console speakers, four 6x9s and four 10” subs. I think my system is just as loud which means he likely didn’t do it right. He had a massive box that you had to pull the passenger front seat plus have the extended cab door open and it was still a tight fit. Feel like he just built the biggest box he could with no thought to air space requirements.
