What happened to the "concealed carry permit" thread?

It seams to me that anyone who has a CCW is a 100% law abiding citizen with no criminal record and has had an extensive background check by both local authorities AND the FBI.
After all ,they don't hand out CCW's like they were DRIVERS LICENSES...:stirthepot:

Too politically incorrect for some moderators?

EDIT... Sorry. I opened my big mouth before knowing the facts as outlined below.

Ok but do you really want someone knowing that you have a ccw permit? If they know that wouldn't it defeat the purpose of carrying concealed?

First off I have thought about getting one. I'm not really sure that want it currently, not comfortable enough with my hand guns to trust my using them.

Let's take for example that I were to get a CCW permit. Now I'm pretty sure that I can trust you knowing that I had it. But let's say some lurker that none of us knew decided to show up at the TRS 10yr anniversary and I was carrying concealed (Georgia has reciprocity with Tennessee). Let's say said lurker wasn't so trustworthy and decided he needed a gun, he knows exactly who to target to get one. Flip that around and say he has a gun and wants to hurt someone, he would know who the most likely to be armed is and would take out those people first. So why would I want to give him the better hand on me. Let me keep my gun secret and when he pulls something stupid and threatens my life, if I feel confident that I can safely reverse the situation without risking someone else's life by using mine I'll bring it into action.

IMHO when/if I ever get a CCW permit the only people that'll know are close family. Those are also the only people likely to know that/what/where I would be carrying, just in case something happened to me and they needed the gun.

Yeah it was a new topic TODAY and had already gone to two pages.

But I've seen other posts disappear at the same time of day, late afternoon.

And the reasons why I didn't post myself? JoshT covered then nicely.

I'd rather be an unpleasant suprise like a jack-in-the-box with a hand cannon.

I'm rather fond of the original 10mm Auto cartridge, at the original power level.

Like I said, cannon.

I can't see the staff getting rid of the thread...probably disappeared into thin air like my deer hit thread, probably just a small issue with the forums.

ccw

Yes, the idea of carring concealed is to keep it a "secret", it is my responsability to hide the fact that I do carry but I'm not worried about anyone here knowing I carry because no one here knows me.
Those who DO know me and know I carry DON'T know where or how many I carry.
When I'm armed and in public I have a huge responsibility, to myself and all those around me and I take that responsibility very seriously.

state of ohio has no laws against carrying a flare gun. who needs to follow firearms laws when you can shoot them with a fireball?

If I could CC it'd be a 9mm Luger 115 gr. FMJ/JHP or 140 gr. JHP. Mostly be that cause it's my only auto, my other handgun is a revolver. It is a 5 shot, 6.5" ported barrel, .44mag that (IMO) would be to big to CC.

But like I said above I got a lot more practicing to do before I even consider getting serious about a CCW.

Damn it!

I was only aware of one thread that disappeared for no apparent reason. I didn't know this thread existed.

Our resources went in the black for 5-minutes this afternoon. When that happens the server will temporarily shut down some services. I wonder if it was some how lost because of that......

Think about it Carlos. No one here may know you personally, but the WWW is unbelievably vulnerable to hackers and the like. You can call me paranoid if you want, but I feel that information like that is far to risky to be posting on the internet for anyone to see. I agree with JoshT, no one but your close family should know that you have your LTC.
