I'd put my 97 and my 88 both in the crusher in a heartbeat.
The 97 is worth about 1,400 bucks...... and has no potential without spending stupid money on a tired bedraggled work truck.

The 88 is going to the crusher anyways, just to get it out of the field. If I had more money put back I'd be glad to get 4,500 out of it.

this is a screwed up/flawed system, but if the rest of the world is abusing it, why can't I get a slice too? it's going to happen regardless.

I agree 100%... I love my truck, but if I had the money to buy a new car It'd be gone already, but I don't... It's a win/win either way for me, I get to have something I love or get something new I love...

Can we not start this again? Some people like the Camaro, some hate it, that's your opinion... Honestly though, my Camaro has been the most reliable GM product we have ever owned...

I agree 100%! this car was so anticipated that we heard about it in 2004(ish)(hell maybe even 2002). after years of hearing bout this car I am very disappointed.

Don't do it! Or rather, strip the truck first!

Remember, cash for clunkers stripped the dealers of inventory...so there are no good deals. You can probably get $2-3k more off a new car in a month or two.

If your truck is junk, needing a new engine and trans...by all means...junk it. Cash for clunkers is great if your truck is one step away from the compactor anyway.

However, if it is running with a $2500 value, it is probably not a good deal.

I have given a lot of thought to doing that and I don't think I will. I would be crushing my '88 (97k miles!) but I'd be stripping EVERYTHING off it so it would basically just be a running, driving shell. Then I'd use some pieces to fix my B2 and my other Ranger. I wouldn't be real sad seeing it go away because really it's just something to drive.

I decided not to because I can't afford payments on any new car of decent quality. No way am I gonna crush it for a new Kia.
