Cash for clunkers giving me $4500.00 for my truck

I am all about the new Camaro. As far as fuel economy the V6 gets 27mpg, and that is a 304hp V6. The 426hp V8 is rated at 22mpg.

You're not going to get the full $4500 for that thing. You're trading something with pretty much the same gas mileage. If not a tad bit more. Lots of people are having misconceptions about this program....

Ok Jesus, I have a 97 Trans Am with a 305 hp V8 that gets 26 mpg highway, so I can see the V6 getting the 27mpg rating, not to mention a guy that I work with has a new SS and he says he averages 20 mpg.

New Maxima's are pulling close to 30 highway out of the v-6. No reason the Camaro can't unless you are admitting to US car boys can't do what the Japanese companies can.

So i have a 1986 ford ranger 4 wd 2.9 v6 lifted and went to the dealership just for fun. They told me they would give me 4,500.00 but i left. I would like to get the 2010 Chevy Camaro yeah i know its a Chevy but that thing is a beaut. Mom dad friends and family said to do it but I couldn't think of my ranger getting destroyed after all the good times so im staying with it. I'll just have to wait, so has anybody used cash for clunkers or thought about it? I know right now they still have to pass it but would you? Yes I know a lot of you are pissed and there is a thread about it but i just want to know if anyone has used or knows of anybody that has it and how it went. Thanks!

Heres my baby.

Its a piece of shit. built on a cadillac platform

It sure doesn't look like it, right from the Cheby site. I'm even guessing with the top of the line, you'd have to pay the gas guzzler tax.

Fuel Efficiency LS 1LS LT 1LT LT 2LT SS 1SS SS 2SS
EPA Est. Fuel Economy City 17 MPG 17 MPG 17 MPG 16 MPG 16 MPG
EPA Est. Fuel Economy Highway 29 MPG 29 MPG 29 MPG 24 MPG 24 MPG

I thought it was average combine city/highway which had to be over 18mpg's in which case all of those engines would pass. If you drive highway a ton I could see getting one cause thats damn good for a v8 (not trading in your ranger though of coarse) Better cause give it to me!:icon_thumby:

Yeah, I can easily reach 25-26 mpg with my Camaro... No problem at all... I can get 18-20 city if I stay out of it (like that actually happens)... I usually get around 15-16 city 25-26 hwy...

That Ranger is so beautiful. I would never let that get crushed. Just buy the Camaro and keep the Ranger.

Interesting. I had an S10 with a 383 stroker (LT1) and I got 9 mpg.:icon_confused:

if the engine and everything is as good as the body im sure you could get 4500 out of it selling it to the right person. i would pay that much for it i love that truck lifted looks bad ass

My dad went to the dealership just to see what the hype was all about. He has a 97 F350 Powerstroke (best Tim Allen grunt) and he said that the new diesel only get 2 or 3 more mpg than his. He said what is the point of gaining 2-3 mpg when his is paid off.
