That stupid glue on heat shield they used under the bed and cab is the worst.

My 2011 has very little rust, and almost non when I bought it back in 2017. Except for the bed, and only right where that heat shield was. Soaks up all that brine and holds it right under the bed where it cant dry out.

Our recon manager hates all Nissan / Infiniti products. Their reliability has gone in the toilet the last 10-15 years. Nearly all the engines leak after a few years, any of their cvt trans are jokes, the a/c keeps finding new ways to quit working, etc. etc. I wouldn't drive a Nissan if it were free.

If you look at the most unbiased reliability reporting you can find, only Toyota (of the Japanese brands) is ahead of Ford in reliability. Nissan is way down the list nearing VW or Chrysler.

Thanks, F*rd! Really happy all that exhaust heat stayed out of the bed area.

Totally worth the trade-off in my opinion.

Don't know what I would do without all those *wonderful* bed ventilation holes.

In the picture of the under side you can still see some of the glue from where I ripped off the heat shield.

What you are looking at is a 35 year old Nissan, original drivetrain, still going. Runs smooth and rides great. Almost 300k miles and I would drive it across country tomorrow if I had to. Maybe the exception to your buddies rule, but not likely. There are tons of these things still on the road.

As someone who has owned 3 G35/37 products between 2004 and 2013 (last G37 made before the Q50) it is, hands down, the most problem free model I have ever owned. We went from the G37 to a QX50 Crossover/SUV lease in 2018 and after turning that lease in we walked away from Infiniti altogether. Jim if you can find a clean low mileage G35/G37 I wouldn't hesitate

It wasn't a bad experience but it was not a good one. A lot of little things, trim falling off, electronic issues and emissions crap failing. We turned the car in with 43k miles and everything inside rattled. I was absolutely not worth the $55k sticker. If they want to play in that price range they need to completely step it up, the QX50 isn't a player. We replaced it with a used VW Tiguan. While the VW has less power it has 50k miles (paid cash for it) and the fit and finish is light years ahead of Infiniti.

Actually, the black bike, the B-King, does have two scoops on it from the factory. One on each side. And a yuge K & N filter to inhale all that air. And a Dyno Jet Power Commander V for tuning. It's north of 200 hp. Likes to loft the front wheel on takeoff.
