I've been trying to track down a clunking noise whenever I go over a bump in my 09 Ranger. The control arm bushings are new and my mechanic says that it's not in the suspension. I'm wondering if it could be the core support bushings. I put a jack under the core support and lifted it a little bit and an 1/8" gap does open up between the bushing and the frame. I'd appreciate any thoughts on this issue.

Thanks, Smitty

unlikely but certainly possible.

no way for me to gauge what you call a clunk.

Thanks, I guess a clunk isn't a very good way to describe it. I can just say that there's something loose that bumps together when I go over a bump in the road. I've also wondered about a worn out shock bushing.

shock bushings or spring seats or sway link..

check it all and test it.
