Just heard about it in a magazine today, they say its a "slip-off" of a companies diagnostic tester that's been around 40 years they are selling for 100 and you plug into your data port and you plug it in usb to your computer and it tells you what is and could be wrong with your car

Any one think its worth it or has it????

I can get a better one than that for $100.

I also don't trust any company that claims their product to be a "slip-off" instead of a "spin-off".

looks like it does the same thing as the regular code readers you can get for $50, except this carmd thing can be uploaded onto a computer. looks like all that does is put the results on a computer screen instead of the little screen on the unit.

IMHO, just get the cheap orange one from harbor freight.

Alright sounds good to me if i can get the same thing for cheaper im all for it lol

I have a Mac brand scanner, ET97 I think, I bought it used, I think it sells new for around $150. I got mine for $100. If you wait until spring when they go on special they usually go around $100. It does everything that CarMD does, including the computer upload, and a few data stream items that I'm betting this one doesn't do.

I saw the add. What carmd does is have you send the results to them and they tell you what is wrong. This could be useful if they could tell you some of the secret codes that manufacturers use.

My Actron super scanner does more than the CarMD. Expensive tool at the time that I bought. But has paid for itself many times over. I just used it this week to view live data from a Jeep Liberty on why it was running so bad. After review of the data live, the PCM was trying to lean the fuel to -33 of ideal. Which told me and confirmed my reseasoning that the engine was getting too much fuel.

The web could make this CarMd thing work better. I wouldn't discount that so fast.
