TRS Event Carlisle Truck Nationals August 2-4, 2024


So are you guys going to ford nationals or just truck nationals? I'm gonna swing by one of the days to Carlisle with the kid and take him to street rod nationals in york a different day.

I think the majority of the group is going to truck. I don't recall anyone other than Johnny mentioning they are going to Ford.

I'm going to both. The official Ranger Station presence will be at Truck. Select Non-Judged Showfield on your registration and in the drop-down for clubs, select The Ranger Station. We are the only Ranger club there and have our own tent and parking area.

10% discount if you register by June 17 I think.

At Ford there are separate sections for 1984-2011 and 2019+.

Sooo, with less than 60 days to go, I’ve been concentrating on the Road Ranger. I fixed/modified/added a dozen things since completing the interior, so I took a break and made a list of the next “two or three” things I wanted to get done

Well, the list is 32 items. And that doesn’t include the big modifications, but they’ll have to wait till next year. When I looked at the 32, four are “have to” items, another four are “highly recommended” items, and the rest is fluff/desire. I’ll be posting in that thread as I make progress.

On camping, I’ve been thinking of joining you guys, but frankly, I don’t know how to camp. Don’t laugh. And I have no equipment except a flashlight (and Lincoln). I already booked the same roach hotel I stayed in last year, and I think I’m just going to keep that. My underlying concern is my shaky health, and the 10 hour plus drive, and making sure I can get a good rest.
 
I received an email from Carlisle:

I am sending out this email to remind you that the Club Tent Deadline (and Gate-N-Go Deadline) for the Carlisle Truck Nationals is quickly approaching! The deadline is next Monday, June 17th. If you are receiving this email, it is because your club has got a club tent before, but I have yet to get a club tent form from you for this year. Based on your numbers at the show last year, you qualify for 25% off your club tent, making it $187.50. Attached is the club tent form to complete if you want to secure a club tent. If you would like a list of members registered under your club, feel free to shoot me an email and I can provide that to you!

We are looking forward to this year’s Carlisle Truck Nationals and hope to have you here!"

I attached the form. I paid $200 for a tent last year. I had originally thought that if we got enough people to register the tent was free. That wasn't the case. Other than having shade to sit under, the advantage is that our group is placed on their map, and you're guaranteed to be in the same spot every day.

I'm just sharing this in case those of you going want to get together and get a tent.

Thank you. The form Jim sent me says that for judging you have to be in the regular Showfield from 10:00 to 4:00 on Saturday.

The campground has cabins available at extra cost.
 
Okay, so….
Tent order form has been faxed to Carlisle with payment when I got to work. If anyone wants to kick in, my address is above or PayPal me at JOdata@aol.com.
To get a free tent we need either 25 registered for the prior year’s event or 25 registered by the Gate-N-Go deadline for the current year. So we weren’t quite there but had enough for a discount.
We have to maintain a minimum of 15 registered each year to keep our club space and tent.
Tables and chairs are extra cost, but as I recall last year there was a table in our tent from the previous event and they didn’t charge us. I will bring a table.
They will print us an official Carlisle club banner for our tent for $50. We can think about that for next year. We will need the flag from last year from whoever has it.

@Jim Oaks if you could ask Carlisle for the list of who is registered and forward it to me, that would be great.

Good enough. Assuming he’s coming, between the two of us we’ll be hooked up.

Ultimately I’d like to do like some of the clubs at Ford and have a table selling T-shirts and swag, catered lunch, etc. but that’s going to require a lot more people signing up. Gotta have vision though.
