Carb 2.9

I agree that unloaded a 2.9 will scoot much quicker and freer than a 4.0

Towing truly is where the 4.0 shines. I have hauled off loads big enough to break my clutch disc with the 4.0. Engine didn't mind it one bit, but I doubt a 2.9 would have gotten that trailer rolling in a few spots I had to stop.

While it's not in the works this minute, one day I want to port polish and supercharge the truck.
Ive never towed with an OHV 4.0. But as long as i keep in mind im only working with 177 CI ive never had an issue with towing with a 2.9. Itll handle anything the rest of the truck will

I've gone and done some pretty spectacular(ly stupid) things with a 2.9. But I built my truck across the space of 10 years with the 4.0, taking notes about how things changed every step of the way, The 4.0 was the last thing I did, and a side by side comparison says that when hauling a load the 4.0 kicks the 2.9s butt.

Ive hauled and pulled stuff with rusty #1 that no ranger should ever do and the 2.9 always kept its head up, dug down, and did the job.

Im not saying a 4.0 wont pull or haul better, im just saying that the 2.9 is well suited to the abilites of a stock ranger.
