86 BII. A4LD Wife came home. Said it started with it would not go into park. Drove home and now it will not go into neutral, reverse or park. Has been working fine up till this. Since it was past 10;00 PM all I have done is checked the shifter for binding and climbed under it and tried to move the shift arm into park by hand. Shifter moves fine from OD through low. Fix en to pull the pan off in the morning. Is there anything I should be looking for when I get it off?

Took the valve body off the transmission today.

This shaft will not move past the overdrive position going to park.

Removed the three screws and took the metal plate off and found several pieces of what looks like teflon stuck in the oil passage.

Pulled the junk out and now the shaft moves back and forth.

I am sure that it is part of some bushing that is wearing out but this will give me time to save up and get a different transmission.
I need to find a new gasket and put it back together and should be good to go.

No its a strainer screen that gos into the VB, any trans shop will have them in stock.

when they get cloged the pressure pushes it through. you will need to get new VB gaskets.

That would make sense. Now where does it go?
