can't find map sensor

The MAP sensor is a black plastic sensor about the size 0ofma pack of cigarettes

On an '86 it is mounted to the passenger side inner fender along with the EGR solenoids and starter relay.

On an '87-88 it is mounted to a bracket on the firewall just to the passengerside of the vehicle centerline.

On an '89-92 2.9 it is actually mounted in a plastic box that is "tunneled" into the cowl

Allan, if my truck is an 86, and the map is on the fender then what the hell is the cigarette box for?

do you know what the thing is that the red and green hoses run to cuz i broke mine(lost spring)(its interesting how much free space there would be if i didnt have ac)

You got it. That box straight down from the windshield wiper, and mounted to that bracket is your MAP sensor.
I'll have to look and see what those hoses run to though.

They may go to the air temp control sensor inside the breather assembly and the cold weather modulator ?

Ford was known for doing weird shit back in the day.
You used to be able to go to a car lot and look at two identical trucks from the same manufacturing plant, that were produced on the same damn day with the same options and the bracketry would be totally different LOL!

What could really be going on is your truck is more then likely a late year production model. They could have said "hey this is a better spot", started using the location late in 86 and kept it there for all following years.

The red and green lines go to the EGR Relay. One of them connects to the manifold vacuum outlet and the other goes to the EGR valve. I just replaced the relay on my 87 because I lost the spring also. The relay costs around $33 at an auto parts store. Ford sells it for $51.
