So I took the tranny out to replace the flywheel, and so when I unplugged the clutch I had to remove the black retaining clip in order for the line to come out of the slave cylinder. So I got the trans back in and put the black clip back into the slave and now I can't plug the line back in. I can plug the line in with the clip off but obviously it doesn't stay in place. I have tried pushing it in while putting the clip on but that doesn't work. I remembered when I first put this slave in it said do not remove clip, and before it plugged in just fine.. Any help would be much appreciated at this point I'm thinking I need a new slave (this ones only a month old.. Had some issues with my new flywheel ring gear, that's why I didn't replace the slave).

They can be a real PITA...those little fingers on the slave are what holds the line in place and if they get bent the plug simply won't go in and stick. I don't recall having to remove the ring on mine but I do remember struggling with mine a few times...

Maybe try to open the bleeder screw a bit to relieve pressure inside the slave...you will need to bleed it a bit anyway but it might allow you to get the line to connect and stay in place...I've had them pop off under pressure when they aren't seated properly.

I'm tried that and still no luck, that clip doesn't allow the line to push in now that I've taken it out.. Maybe I can buy a new one and take it's clip and then just return it? That would be the easiest route to me, or does ford sell those little clips?

Really quick aren't these fittings? I wish they just used normal connections like brake lines. Way freaking easier

sometimes the o-ring in the end of the line gets out of place and causes this issue as well. without seeing what we are dealing with its hard to suggest a repair.

It's the Oreilly powertorque slave.. I just realized this black clip is not in any other slaves.. Different style, gonna just go get this slave exchanged at oreillys.. Then bleed it with the master cylinder removal and all that fun.. Gonna be great!

Realized once I had taken the tranny out and taken the slave down to oreillys to exchange it that I had oriented the clip wrong.. Oh well wasted a couple hours, got a new slave and learned to take pics before you start pulling crap apart! Got the trans in, t case, now just gotta put the starter, exhaust and driveshafts in.. And drive her around the town! Thanks for the replies guys.

Glad you figured it out...:icon_thumby:

I really had to think what was removable on the slave because I couldn't see anything that was meant to come out without breaking...:)

Anyway, hope you didn't have to bleed the master because that was part of the reason for the quick disconnect...the master should stay full and bled when disconnected...but you're already past that part so hope everything works...

Haha yeah I know bleeding the master is a PITA, but if I have to do it at least I've done it before.. And thanks, I hope it all does too. This truck has been throwing me one thing after another but i still love it!
