What's wrong with thornbirds?

Have u ever owned a set?

Have u ever owned a set?

They are several hundred times to hard as far compound goes to be worth a shit in what I wheel. I will not ever own a set of thornturds. There is nothing you can say that will make me think they are worth anything.

You may as well start trying to convince me to putting a TTB in for rocks.

To each their own. I just wanted to know why u had a opion on them when u have never owned a set!

The hard compound makes them not stick to rocks, the retardedly oversized lugs less likely to flex when they need to or handle well in mud, snow, or rain and the useless sidelugs and weight would cause them to wear like hell on the road. Id rather have a set of ATs.

Same reason I have an opinion on hugely lifted trucks. BGTL is an open opinion held by most and thornturds are a stepping stone to them.

I've seen one good use of thornbirds.....buddy planted tomatoes in them.....

All i wanted to know is why u guys thought they suck so bad, I know their not a real good tire and i will most likely not get another set. But for right now they are suiting my need and all in all they are not the worst tire that i have had. The worst iv had would be the Goodyear millitary tires.

Worst tire I've EVER owned. They're hard (as everyone's stated) they dont clean worth a damn, and they just dont have any "grab" to them. You'd be better off running bald TSL's IMHO.

My very first tire I had when I started wheeling 15 years ago was the TB, and as all are saying, very hard compound, don't self clean, and heavy. The only way they are half way decent is if they start digging, then the side lugs move you forward. I got stuck my second time out in a relatively flat open field. But mostly they are a street poser tire. They are designed for sand anyways, not mud.

depends like always.

thornbirds are awesome in rutty mudruns that pop up on the trails which have mostly sand around here and loam in the holes and last twice as long as regular tsl on the road even tsl radial.. most of mi you can get by ok from what i have seen.

so they are slightly quieter, and last longer...

for what i do i would not buy a new set, but would not necessarily pass a good deal on a used set either. but i cover alot of ground.

this thread is a bummer though...not the thornturd distraction....but the base premise.
