Can fluid change really fix my trans problem?

Final Report....
The Transgo kit did everything it claimed it would do. But....
Park to R still takes longer than I like.
1/2 throttle from a stop.... perfect through every gear ! Firm and quick shifts !!
1/8 throttle, like a grandma, and it's "not so good". The truck surges, can't decide what gear it should be in. ( or maybe TC lock on/off)? Tach doesn't change.. almost feels like a "carb problem". (Autozone scanner says "no codes".)
30 mph coasting, then on gas, and it flares 3rd to 2nd with a good bang.

Looks like it got "cooked" a little too much before we bought it?
will try some Lucas, but not expecting much better.

As far as that Type F fluid that you found behind the seat, odds are that the previous owner was using it in the power steering system.

A few people have said the same thing about finding the type F behind the seat... thanks.
But the trans continues to disappoint me.
what (wrecked) vehicles should I start looking for if we want to swap out the trans?
and what years ?
If we find a another ranger, but with a stick, what manual trans can we swap in without changing the whole truck? ( I know we need another whole truck to change to manual... computer, flywheel, pedals, maybe drive shafts, etc. )
I keep finding posts about changing motors AND trans... I just want to swap trans and leave the rest alone.
any links ? threads on a forum ?
