Motorcycles have no relevance for this discussion.

As for the dual pump thing, only Rangers with dual pumps were early older ones with either a lift pump in the tank and high pressure pump inline, or dual tanks (I think most of those had three). By '01 like OP is asking about, they were all single fuel pump in the tank. The dual pump OP is talking about is an aftermarket pump hanger for dual fuel pumps. Probably wouldn't even fit the factory tank without modification.
