I was wondering if any of you guys use your ranger for camping? I want to do some this summer. I have 2 camper tops, one is a high rise and one is normal. Both are fiberglass. I put the high rise one on for a little while to see how I liked it, but it was really old and didn't fit well. I put Carpet down in the back and a twin size bed fits in there perfect. Add some sleeping bags and a bag of chips and its ready to go. :icon_twisted: Anyone got pix of them camping with there Ranger? lol

I'd ditch that mattress for some carpet padding and/or sleeping pads. They get in the way less, and it's easier to sleep two. Which brings me to my next point- I highly recommend picking up on of them girlfriend thingies, they're an excellent accessory and make the experience much better. I noticed it's a little cramped being 6'4" and having a bed conveniently just less than that though.

going to rock on the range in ohio and was gonna camp in the back of my truck, unfortunately I can't get the smell of old diff fluid out of the back so it looks like we're gonna be in the jeep:annoyed:

:icon_rofl: I want to do the same thing with my Ranger this summer. Just gotta put some new topper tape on my canopy.

What kind of carpet did you get for it? I think it would be awesome having that in the back of my truck :headbang:

I definitely want some carpet recommendations without buying a bed rug setup for way more than I have at the moment.

First... My bed is getting a roll on liner. I just now need to figure out what color I want.

I've not camped in mine yet, but I have slept in the back a few times with a good air mattress. Both times I was alone... but it was alright.

I just used old carpet that I tore out of a house, lol, with like 3 layers of padding. It worked well, and was free!

Camp outof mine all the time. No topper though. I just took the shock corded poles from an old tent and run them angled from corner to corner. Toss a tarp over, roll out the Therma-rest, climb in... sleep! I am STILL planning a rack that will hold my canoes and will allow me run the tarp over the top for more head room.

I was thinking about getting a topper for my bed for camping but for now I just drag out my old tent:icon_thumby:

I have some better pictures but no time to post, must get to work now.

These were photos of the last camping trip. I usually sleep in a tent. But if a home base is not possible, I just sleep in the passenger seat or the truck bed with a self-inflating mattress.

FYI, I would have taken more photos, but camera phone battery died and had no charger. Won't happen again next time.

Ranger when its full loaded at the campsite.

Enough supplies to last me 3~5 days worth.

My father's ride. He cheats. Camping in a bed camper like that is not camping. It makes the experience too easy. Well, at least it has no toilet or shower.

Either a tent, or bags on the ground if it's nice out. It gets f'n cold at 10,000 ft. + in the Rockies.

Stepside + Spare too big for under the bed + Wheeling equipment leaves little room for carrying gear.

I've taken my trucks camping but I just use them to carry the stuff and I sleep in a tent. My Rangers were Supercabs and hence short beds. I'm far too tall to fit and the Sport Trac's bed is out of the question. :icon_twisted:
