Camping in a Ranger?

ugh

In my town there was a 83-88 ford ranger motorhome for sale for 1,200$.
It looked like the toyota ones i wish i took a pic of the ranger. (looked like this just not a toyota)

ive gone camping manytime in my exes ranger.. she had a 96 extra cab with a camper on it.. we just set up an airmatters in the bed and threw our crap in the back seat and just opend up the rear slider to the cab when we needed to grab stuff.

it worked pretty good and was pretty comfortable in there.

I had a fiberglass camper shell on my truck for a few years for camping under. I had these folding pads from costco that I would toss back there. I did alot of camping in early spring so there would be alot of condensation in the back but it was better than being in a tent. Before I got the camper, I slept under neath my tonneau cover in the pouring rain once. That was kinda weird... I managed to stay dry with the tailgate down...

I went out this year and this is my set up.

I have some better pictures but no time to post, must get to work now.

Hey how do you like that bed tent? I was kinda thinking of getting one, but I camp about 10 miles from the lake we like to fish at. So how hard is that to take down and put back up. Prob. easier to do the tent thing.

Haaa haa thats my same setup! i got the truck bedz and the tent just like yours!:icon_thumby: ive yet to use it though :( this summer with the girlie!:headbang::icon_idea: thats what i should do!

Well I'm 6'2" and that truck tent goes all the way to the edge of the tailgate when down plus it has a ton of headroom. Since that was my first time setting it up, while having a few at the same time, probably took me 20 mins to set up, they say it should take less time you do it next time.

I use to sleep under a cap and that worked well but I don't want a cap anymore after I sold my Nissan. I do like sleeping high and dry though.

What about something like this:

$100 to rent it for a weekend or $200 to rent it for a week.

just build one of those and have it anytime you want it

ill build one and ship it .. if you pay for supplies and shipping cost haha

I had a drunk passed out dude who crashed in my trucks bed with only a couple blankets. I guess it worked well since there was no where else for him.. and his puke.

His impression the next morning was that it was very cold and he woke up thinking he was next to Big Bird and Ernie was driving down the freeway.

....Ohhh parties.

i bet if someone took there time and knew how to make stuff work it could be real cool

I had a friend who cut the cab of his s10, and he used some sort of rubber boot to seal the cab to the camper shell. That way you could get a tight but flexible seal, since the cab and bed are kind of independent.

Get a friend who knows how to weld make a frame to go around the back of the cab, i would think some square steel tubing would work pretty well.

the guy with the s10 cut his cab and put 6 12" woofers in it, insane!

This isn't a picture camping with it, but my cap that I generally use for winter but throw back on for camping. I use an airmattress, that is basically the width of the bed, I don't completely fill it.. I fill it with my weight on it so I am floating but the mattress still conforms around the wheelwells. Adjust accordingly if there is an extra body on the mattress :icon_thumby:

I had the same cap on my Nissan and did the same thing, worked awesome except for the moisture.
