calling all 3.0 goo roos..aka wicked sludge

i found three 3.0 engines to replace the dead one from my truck....
one is from a 1992 ranger....85,000 miles....$450
an other one is from a 94 Mazda b3000 with 109,000 miles and $425
and the last one would be from a 2002 ranger with 75,000 miles for $475

i know that the one from the 92 will need to have some work done to it to fit. the one from the 94...not so sure if that needs the same work as the 92...
and as for the 2002...they say that there computer says that all 3.0 engine from 95-97 would be a plug and play....and the 2002 will not work....but if that one can work what needs to be changes?


and boil it all down...what year ranger do i look for to have a 3.0 drop in and what mods do i have to do for the newer ones?

a friend of mine just took a 3.0 out of my 92 parts truck and put it in an 02 taurus. he had to change the intake,oil pan , and the cam syncro, and timing cover. the car runs great.

if the 02 3.0 is the same as the 99 3.0 you can put that in your 97.. we DID! only difference was the cam sensors.. ones hall effect an the other is magnetic just need to swap sensors. .. we ended up using the newer 3.0 intake in the 97.. everything been working great

well with me....since my engine went...the cam sensor....the cam gear in mine is all chewed up....being that the engine got ceased up...looks like it has been doing it for a wile...if i can get one of those damn things cheaper than $150 from row i will be fine

Off topic, but did you ever come down to seguin, TX last year, Stegomon? I remember you were planning the trip but wondered if it ever happened or not.

what about emissions? I think here in CA if you replace a motor it needs to be from the same year or newer. But then again, if its a direct replacement, I doubt you will have any problems at the smog-n-go place.
