Has anyone swapped to a cable clutch on the M50d trans? Did any of them come with a cable clutch? Did any rangers or RBVs come with cable clutchs? It seems to me that a lot of people have problems with the hydraulic slave cylinder, with it's tendancy to go bad, leak, and be hard to bleed. I've been playing around with the idea of a cable clutch swap since I replaced my clutch and slave the other weekend. It seems to me that they're far more reliable and give a better pedal feel too. I'm a Mechanical Engineering student, so I have access to lathes and cnc machines, and I even have a few sketches of an idea that wouldn't require modifying the case to fit a clutch fork. What do you think?

No M5OD-R1 ever came with a cable clutch in an RBV. I have never heard of anyone doing that swap either. I am sure it could be done with access to a machine shop but not with junkyard parts.

Did any RBV come with a cable clutch? I'm just looking for a place to start.

No. You're going to have to start from scratch.

Randy, any progress? I too would like a mechanical (cable) clutch setup.
