Hello all,

Just picked up a 2000 Ranger and replaced fuses and a bulb for the brake lights. Now they are working.

However, my cab reverse lights are not working. The bulbs look good, and the tail reverse lights are working.

Any help?

cab reverse lights????

You mean your cargo lamp on the back of the cab that comes on when you roll your dimmer switch till it clicks?

Yeah i think he meant those.
those only work as cargo lights.
roll the dimmer until it clicks, they will light up with the cab lights.
roll it up and then ull feel it click, then roll it back a bit to turn em off.

thanks guys, didnt know they were the cargo lights or how to turn them on

cargo lights

oh this is great! I'd just noticed the cargo lights on the back of my cab were on just this afternoon (they're usually hidden nicely by the cap). Looked up the problem here and easy fix with a tweak of the dimmer switch!

THEN! I figured heck why not and checked to see if my dome lights were working again. We'd had an issue with them never turning off and so rather than spend the money to go to the mechanic and get the door switch fixed (which is what we thought the problem was) I just pulled the bulbs and drove around for the last 5 months without interior lights.

Well, I put a bulb back in and voila! It appears that I'm a dope and never realized that the dimmer switch also keeps those lights on! All this time! argh!

Thanks SO much for the advice - I never post here but I sure appreciate the advice I've gotten when so desperately needed!

Just for the "lurkers" in this thread...

I've seen several of these later cab lights where the Bed illumination lamps have no bulbs in them... the holes to mount lamp sockets were never cut out in the lamp assembly!

So be aware that some bed lamps are phony from the factory!
