C6 on 4.0l???

well for right now i just drive it, i got i a little trouble like over a year ago and it finally went through last october and i have a restricted liscense until like march or april. i plan on finishing thr front end in the spring just in time to get off the restricted crap and take it to the badlands and get it stuck.

You might bug bobbywalter, he has been around this crazy big stuff more than most...

I would say next time it would probably be wise to go with the powertrain first, then the suspension. :icon_thumby:

yea lol your probably right. i just need to hurry up and win the lottery...

hey i got an offer for a free 302 with tranny and tcase from a 98 explorer. does anyone know if the tranny will bolt up to my 4.0?

No, and it is electronically controlled. 4R70W, based on the AOD. AWD so the t-case isn't very desirable either.

But a 302 is a lot easier to find transmissions for than a 4.0, and one out of a Ex is is one of if not the best 302's made... depending on individual condition of course.

Has anyone heard of or know if its possible to attach a C6 to a 4.0l? my tranny went out today and i know the c6 will be tough as nails and will be the 205.it would also be perfect for when i swap in the 351 eventually. i looked on advanced adapters and they dont even list the c6 on their listing of transmission to engine adapters

there is a guy i know that used to own 4xfab...its done now but he made adapters to put the fullsize tranny behind the v6.

pretty sure gouky and matt 8888 had a setup from him to run a 435 behind the 6....matt run the stubler too iirc in one of his all ranger setups.

so its possible. just not practical. matt may have a setup avaialable or know where it is and may possibly be reached at rrorc.

best bet..

i would go to all pro off road or some place like that and get some military tires it is likely in driving range and if one of your buds has a 4 whizzer pickup it may be cheaper to pick them up then to ship them depending on where you live...that and a jy tranny and drive it in that configuration untill you can get a better powertrain sorted out....put the mickeys on when showing off on the weekends.

a set of those tires is 300 bux...less then one mickey and your not wearing the micks out driving all the time.....and a decent 5 speed swap can be done for 3-600 bux. most cost effective way to go imo. of course a set of 300 dollar 38's off craigslist is possible too. your gonna need at least some stock steelie 16.5 wheels for the militaries and those proved hard to cost effectivily track down where i live....

the militaries suck in the snow but are great otherwise for road use. its an all around ease on your wallet.

smaller tires for driving around dude.:icon_thumby:
