Is it true and how much difference over say an e4od or any other trannys you have tried?

Probably no different than an E4OD. That's a big sumbitch too. Only really matters if you're drag racing and looking for every ounce of power. The C-6's plus is they're extremely reliable and bullet proof. You'll only have to rebuild it once if at all. I had one in a 68 Merc Monterey a couple years back with 62,000 miles, 40 years old and never been rebuilt. You'll never see a C-4 do that.

I knew I had this stuck some where.

Power loss for various auto transmissions:
Please remember these are approximate values, and were provided by Car Craft Magazine.
Powerglide_____18 hp
TH-350________36 hp
TH-400________44 hp
Ford_C-6______55-60 hp
Ford_C-4______28 hp
Ford_FMX______25 hp

Chrysler_727___45 hp

It looks hungry but can/will eat 500+ horses with no problems and keep coming back for more. All depends on application.

holy crap, so a c6 behind a non h.0. motor will only put 100 hp to the wheels wtf

Or about the same as your 2.8 at the flywheel...

Not much reason to put a C6 behind a non-ho (or even a ho) though. :icon_thumby:

I just gave away a small block C6 that had been rebuilt and replaced it with a AOD to gain overdrive. C6 is a great trans but yes they do take away a lot of power from the rear tires. You can upgrade the C6 with Torrington bearings and cut down the amount of power it robs from the tires and you can also change the planets in it to get a lower first gear if you are going to use it in a 4x4 to also help with putting power to the rear tires.

It all depends on how much power is going into it. Those figures are relative. I'm quite sure if you bolted up a 60 hp motor to one, something more than zero would come out the other end.:icon_rofl:

depends on correction factors as well.

Not meaning to hi-jack the thread but does anyone know how many horses a T-5 will eat??

hahahah I said 'how many horses a T-5 will eat' not how many 'how many T-5's horses will eat' hahahahahah

Here let me rephrase that:
How many HP will a T-5 transmission reduce? Better? LOL!
