C6 eats more HP??

hahahah I said 'how many horses a T-5 will eat' not how many 'how many T-5's horses will eat' hahahahahah

Here let me rephrase that:
How many HP will a T-5 transmission reduce? Better? LOL!

:icon_idea: Obviously you missed the point--er, joke, there. And haven't had much experience with T-5's.:icon_rofl: I was asked by a transmission guy (he who rebuilds em for a living) why I went with a Toploader 4 speed instead of a T-5. I replied that the Toploader was far tougher and the T-5's were crap............. He shot back: no they're not, they're great transmissions, I rebuild em all the time.......................And as Bill Engvall would say............"There's your sign" :icon_rofl:

.I was trying to remember who said that before. I talked to Tony down at Astro Performance and that's about what he said. Has to keep them rebuilt in stock, always a demand.

In their defense, they are a really common tranny in an entry level sporty car. Throw some power at someone who doesn't quite know what they are doing but thinks they do and things will break.

the t-5 in my stang has taken quite a thrashing over the past 5 years... I like them.. they arent bullet proof, but make for a fun time... it's likely they have to be rebuilt so much because of how popular foxbody mustangs are for racing etc... beat on any transmission and it will eventually need rebuilt. :icon_cheers:

Yes a C6 is less efficient. But......
it has a huge bell-housing. A C6 can be made more efficient by spending some $$$.

Yes a C4 is more efficient. But...
it is small and light. A C4 can be stronger by spending some $$$.

The least expensive way to handle either a lot of power or a lot of load would be the C6. Just be prepared to spend extra time to make it fit.

Personally I use a Performance Automatic C4. It cost $2000 but it can handle more power than most people are ever going to make (on a real dyno, not bench racing) from a small or big block Ford. It has four seasons worth of passes and street driving and hasn't given a bit of trouble. Peace of mind.

The cheapest way to do anything is to do it right the first time.

I run a C-6 in mine and even though its a HP pig, I don't have to worry about shelling it(only mod done it shortened the rear output to accept a new spud shaft for my AA Dana20 kit). Even though a nice little C-4 would have worked this one was priced right(free).

The small block C-6 bell is pretty much the same size as a 164 tooth belled C-4. They both use the same flexplate.
