ok so I'm putting together an explorer 8.8 w/disk brake to put into my 03. I'm dropin some decent money polishing this turd. I ordered c-clip eliminators from jegs for an 8.8 disk brake setup but it did not specify application. turns out they are for a mustang 8.8 axle so the flange and caliper bracket is smaller apparently. I know superior exle sells that super 88 axle kit but I dont want to have to buy a complete kit. just the eliminators

anyone know where i can get a c-clip eliminator kit for an EXPLORER 8.8?!?!?!:icon_confused:

google bold type

all that does is bring up forum topics on it. I dont have time to read through 50 pages of people slack-jawn' about b.s.

just need to know where to find what i'm lookin for

i'd contact summit to make sure, but you can click the "application" button and it'll tell you what they fit.

THE 9300 P/N IS FOR MUSTANGS ONLY. THATS THE KIT I ORDERED AND WAS WRONG. THE EXPLORER DISK BRAKE REAR ENDS HAVE LARGER FLANGES AT THE ENDS OF THE AXLE HOUSING THAN THE CAR 8.8 DISK BRAKE REARENDS.

I'M ONE STEP AHEAD OF YOU MAN LOL:icon_thumby:

well, good thing i didnt order one. i was looking at them last week. maybe try 4 wheel parts

I did a little searching and it looks like you have to buy a big kit like this:

I read that most people don't do it on disc set-up's because the caliper would hold it in.

There is no need for c-clips eliminators in the disc brake 8.8's. The caliper will hold it on if the c-clip breaks and the axle tries to come out.

YA JEGS SCREWED ME TWICE IN 3 DAYS SO I'M WALKING AWAY FROM THEM ON THIS MATTER. IVE HAD BAD EXPERIANCES WITH 4WP IN THE PAST TOO. I'M JUST PROBABLY GONNA BITE THE BULLET AND DISH OUT FOR THE COMPLETE KIT :annoyed:

WAS REALLY HOPING TO SEE WHAT THE STOCK AXLES COULD HANDLE

THE CALIPER MOUNT IS CRUMMY CAST, YOU PUT TOO MUCH STRESS ON THAT THING AND YOURE REPLACING A LOT MORE THAN JUST AN AXLE SHAFT.

I'M NOT TAKING ANY CHANCES WITH THIS BUILD-UP., PICKED UP A TURBO KIT FOR THE TRUCK SO THIS REAR END NEEDS TO BE BULLIT PROOF.

If you break a caliper mount then a c-clip eliminator kit isn't going to save you. The caliper mount has to handle the rotational stress of your tires when moving at 60+ mph. Sounds like jeg's was smarter than you for not having a c-clip eliminator kit for that axle.

Also turn off your caps lock, its annoying and means your yelling constantly.

Sent from the road while ignoring traffic

nevermind, i found the xtreme 4x4 episode, they used a drum 8.8

ya the drum 8.8 eliminators are readily available. i guess most people depend on their caliper brackets to get em home which is a MASSIVE mistake
