c-clip eliminators

having the calipers is better than having nothing holding it in like the drum 8.8's.

when i was watching the Xtreme espisode, they got new axleshafts to use with the c clip eliminators, so i dont think you can get just the flange parts you were talking about.

on a side note, they didnt say anything in the episode about needing to weld the tubes to the center chunk. guess they didnt do their research lol

Most eliminator kits are not adaptable with disc brakes due to the factory parking brake interfereing with the eliminator brackets...if you want strength without C clips, go with the 9"...

SVT

Maybe you can find caliper mounts that aren't cast? I agree with SVT, if you want failsafe performance, a 9 inch will get you there.

Or buy that kit I posted.

thats what im going with is the superior axle super 88 kit. comes with axles and all that good stuff. not going with a 9" cause i've already started the build on the 8.8 and it was free!!!! -free is for me!

so with that being said, incase yall were wondering and cause i have nothing better to do at the moment, here is a quick list of this build. parts and prices

1) 01 EXPLORER 8.8" DISK BRAKE REAR AXLE- $0.00..... (friend)
2)FORD RACING CRYO TREATED 4.10'S -$100 (FRIEND)
3)MOTIVE GEAR 31 SPLINE SPOOL $111-EBAY
4)SUPERIOR AXLE SUPER 88 KIT(axles+c-clip elim.) $549.95- 4X4GROUPBUY.COM
5) SOLID AXLE CAST IRON DIFF. COVER $64-SOLID AXLE.COM
6) DIFF. TRUSS $146.41-IRON ROCK OFF ROAD
7) BEARINGS AND SHIMS FROM THE BOTTOM DRAWER OF MY TOOL BOX $0.00
8) CROSS DRILLED AND SLOTTED REAR ROTORS W/PADS $120-EBAY
9) LEAF SPRING PERCHES $20- CRAIGSLIST

THATS WHERE IM AT WITH BUILDING THE ENTIRE AXLE SETUP. I GOTTA FIGURE OUT HOW TO POST PICS. GONNA START PUTTING IT TOGETHER TONIGHT

What are you going to get into that you have to have the super 88 kit with the truss? Do some digging and you will find numerous people that have used disk brake axles and had no (as in zero) issues. Its your money to waste and we do need help stimulating the economy.
Personally I've only managed to break the flange after it sat on a rock while I floored it. The rest of the axle has held up without any problem and the truck has been beat on a decent amount.

I had numerous problems with the stock drum 8.8. Had axles come out on me 3 times and demolished 2 sets of ring and pinion gears with the stock 3 litre. Now i'm running a 330hp 351windsor. The stronger i make this rear end the better im going to feel about it all. Plus launching this truck 6feet in the air gives me a peice of mind with the truss........but thats good to know that not many people have had issues with the stock rear end.

Btw. (kryptonitecb) did you get your hubs fixed yet? Im still waiting to go wheelin

Lol I hadn't realized this was you. Well now it makes sense, a 351 is a big difference from my 4.0. I was referring to a disk rear not needing c-clip eliminator. A few guys at trinity & 360 run 8.8's but they have jeeps mostly. Plus jumping and that craziness would need the stuff your getting. I just thought you were looking for a weekend warrior like mine lol. I was planning on saving my dollars for my ton's but since I got a retardedly huge tax return I was thinking bout getting the hubs after all.

Well. I got my truss delivered today........ The only things i dont care for about it is the hellen keller welds that were not cleaned up and the fact that it sits dead center on the leaf spring perches. So i had to throw it under the chop-saw to be able to utilize the damn thing. Other than that i'd reccomend everyone with an 8.8 to get one

i have photobucket, but.......i only have internet use at work and they have photobucket blocked on the network.....f'n nazi's lol

i dont think so, just other sites like photobucket......imageshack for example. it's probably blocked too, if photobucket is.

my work internet is the same way. they'll block pics of peoples rangers, but if i go to the NSFW threads, there's pics of half naked women that do show up. and we cant get on espn.com, but we can poke around youtube all day if we want. so stupid.

Is there another way to upload pics instead of photo bucket?

1 - Click on "Quick Links" up in the menu bar for the forum.

2 - Now select "User Control Panel".

3 - In the control panel menu on the left of the screen select "Pictures and Albums".

4- Now you should see a little icon in the bottom left of the white pane that looks like a picture. Hover your mouse pointer just to the right of the icon and "Add Album" should show up; click it.

5- Now you should be able to create an album, and add some photos.

6 - After you've uploaded them, you have to go into each individual picture and copy the "BB Code" string, then paste it into your post.

Hopefully this makes sense.

This might only be a feature for Premium Members though. I'm not too certain about that.

EDIT: I just thought of one more way. When you click on "Post Reply" there is a little icon (light yellow in color with some mountains and a sun) that says "insert image" when you hover on it. You can upload a picture into the post that way. It will not be viewed as the images from Photobucket, or the method above are. To view it, you will have to click on a thumbnail of the image, and it will open it in another window or tab.
