I desperately want a lsd in my 2wd ranger. A tru track for my little 7.5" cost about 500 with new bearings and such. An 8.8 from a fx4 or any 8.8" lsd ranger in the scrapyard is 200 but will need new brakes and maybe clutches ect so price ends up almost even. I have no plans of offroading or abusing my 2.3l truck, i just want the extra traction in the snow.
My current axle has only 65k, has brand new brakes and stops fine, and the 7.5" is plenty strong for what I do. It is also a 4.10 and i will not go with anything less since the 2.3 is gutless to begin with.
I know of no factory 7.5" lsd axles (do they exist? If so what vehicles should I check?) so what do you think is the best option... Install the new lsd on my good clean 7.5" or rebuild a junkyard 8.8" with factory lsd? The explorer swap is more work than its worth. I want direct complete bolt in axle from a ranger, no rear disc swap nonsense or flipping perches. Or just do a direct bolt in lsd carrier for my current diff.
