build thread for 2.8 carb to chevy tbi.

they already have nipples to clamp hose on and everything. they work great

Did I just hear "Nipple Clamp"?!?

wow kinky and good times at TRS!:icon_twisted:

Interesting that a Chebby can improve a Ford. As DoorGunner says, we need plenty of pics, and kudos to Cammeddrz and Rico for helping and sharing this knowledge.

Very true for I wouldn't be doing this if they haven't done it first and proved it could be done. Pics are a no brainer :)

The web says about 12-20 psi for a TBI throttlebody injestion....errrr....injection...

The newer vehicles with individual injectors for each cylinder need 30-60 psi to work correctly according to the web........

They all definately need fuel line that returns excess fuel to the tank.....

I put a carb on my V8 so I wouldn't have to chase down wiring/computers/ignition modules/etc.....and used the OEM Ford Ranger 50psi electric tank fuel pump with a 7psi regulator/tank return line on the firewall.....(installed an O2 sensor in the right exhaust to fine tune the carb...I use an ohm meter to read the 2 sensor electrical output).

but that's just me.......

Thanks for the confirmation
Still haven't made it to the damn junk yard, it dries up long enough for it to start raining again

Just got back picked up the wiring harness, forgot all the damn sensors since i didnt have the proper sockets. Also got the ecm and fuel pump, picked up the proper fuel filler neck as well. Went had the radiator tested yesterday and failed big time, pick up one new for 100 bucks and took the busted one back, thank the lord for warranty.

Youre good you don't need that.

It looks like you still need the throttle body, dist. Module, and coil. It's also nice to use the chevy air cleaner housing.

thanks rico for the input, wont the tfi coil work? having trouble finding a complete tbi, all of them have the tps missing and something that screws in next to it and the injectors as well. found one that was complete but i it had larger venturi i think it was from the 4.6

the thing that "screws next to it" is the idle air control, and you certainly need that

i think you mean the 4.3. and yes that has bigger butterflies, and bigger injectors

a quick way of telling a 2.8 from a 4.3 is that the 4.3 has "ridges" on the valve covers, and the 2.8 has smooth valve covers

the tfi coil can work. but the tbi coil already has the connectors for the +/-, and tach lead and everything. the tbi coil is rated at .3 ohms, whereas the tfi coil is rated at .2 ohms, the lower impedance can lead to premature module failure. but you usually don't see that with only .1 ohms different

that module that rico said you don't need btw, is the abs module. and no, you don't need it

but you do need the "EST" module. it is a flat square with a connector plugging into it, i don't see that in your mess of wires

the module that is bolted to firewall above the distributor, i got that little box its in there,
