build thread for 2.8 carb to chevy tbi.

durrr....

I was not thinking of that at all... worst part is the thread is about changing from carb to tbi.

the only advice I can give, is look at anywhere in the truck that the vacuum lines are attached to something near or in the fuel delivery system. Maybe after the upgrade, you wont have this issue if it is related to the old carb.

thanks for the compliment, i try my best.

pressure regulator on a carb, i thought only fi systems had those from the factory.

You are correct. My first thought was fuel reg as well, then I remembered this beast was carbed.

Its been bugging me, and the thing about the disrtibtor screws coming loose is true. Im supprised my plugs were still getting spark with how little of the rotor was left. Im thinking the fuel thing is due to this pos carb, never ran right even after a rebuild.

were you going to disable the duraspark distributor's mechanical, and vacuum advance to run the GM EST curves? Or are you going to leave them, and put the EST into "bypass mode"?

I disable the mechanical advance with the safety wire, just leave the vacuum advance unpluged? I will be using the gm spark curves

yeah, just leave it unplugged

well kinda ran in to an issue, dont really know if its an issue?

fuel necks are completely different. the old one had a tube within a tube.

kinda figured it out just deleted the inner tube. trying to figure out what to do with the pcv valve and oil filler with the hose thingy. would like to keep the pcv valve functional but dont know what each port is used for. i know one goes to direct manifold vacuum. bot the other has me baffled.

AFAIK Oil filler hose goes to air filter housing. Pcv goes to intake manifold like you think.

waiting for a water pump seal, the one supplied was a piece of paper and ripped big time upon install, called the parts store last night and they said it would be in this morning by 8, it wasnt. wont be here till tomorrow, so with that buzz kill i felt like fixing something. so i popped my rear diff cover cause it looked a little leaky and god im glad i did.

got bored waiting for the adapter plate so got creative with some red white and blue paint

I will be getting the adapter plate hopefully next wed, the poor man that was machining it for me developed a case of shingles on his back 2 weeks ago and has been fighting it ever since, from what i hear they are very painfull, dont know if he is will to machine me extras, will ask a price on those, he is doing this one as a favor.

yeah don't sweat it on my account, I can have them made a bunch of places too. I was just going to get one if it was cheap/easy enough

The hardest part for him was finding the aluminum in a small enough sheet to be cost effective. 1" x 6" x 6" is hard to find.
