Ok guys im selling my project ranger and I can't decide if I want to get a 1st gen BII or another 1st or 2nd gen. ranger? If I get a ranger it has to be an extended cab so I can haul my friends around, the one I'm selling now is a standard cab POS. I like my explorer alot but it feels like a boat and I can't haul things in it like I can in a ranger. I don't think a BroncoII would feel as boxy and I really like BII's. I wouldn't mind having a 2nd gen. Ranger with a 4.0, as I'm not the biggest fan of the 2.9 only because of the lifter issues it is vulnerable to. Keep in mind it has to be a 4X4. What do you guys think? :dunno: Thanks in advance.

Ranger all the way.

I was waiting on sunk to make his decision on the ranger-exploder, guess your going with the ranger too huh. Yeah I really like your ranger why don't you post some pix of yours? I have had 3 diff 1st gen. extended cab rangers. I really liked them but I also really liked BII's. I blew up 2 different 2.9's just like you! lol

Yeah I'm keeping the Ranger... I went home this weekend and tried to start it but the battery was too dead... It did have enough juice to run the stereo for a while though :D

As requested

These are current, it has the cap on it now, but that will be coming off. I like it for the summer:hottubfun: and camping.

Ok you just did it! Now Ive made my mind up! Im definitely gettin a ranger! love that retro 80's cap and custom bumpers. Whats the 2.9 like with 4.56's and 31's?

Thanks :D The 2.9 isn't bad, but the original motor was much better. My friend has a 94 with a 4.0, 3.73s and 33s and it turns those easier than mine does. Well, did, lol.

SEXY FLEXY!

Yeah, 12" shackles give you lots of droop. :fie: Those Duff coils did stuff pretty well though too.

I noticed you took out that rollbar sunk. Gettin in the way?

Meh, it fit with the Smittybilt when I had it, but I got tired of the look I guess. And it did take up a lot of bed room.

Yeah I bet a 1st gen with a 4.0 and an m50d would be one quick truck.

I hope so. :D

Yeah I always wanted to build a 1st gen right. But every time I get my hands on one its a total POS lol. Ill just have to find one in decent shape and go from there. what do you guys think an unmolested 1st gen ex cab 4x4 is worth?

Hard to say.. I paid $1300 for mine in March of 06 bone stock with 146k on it.

I have both a wheelable Ranger and a BII. I like the BII myself.

The Ranger I find is a bit too long for my type of wheeling, although it does really good up hills though.
The BII is much more nimble on the trails. It obviously doesn't have as much storage space, but I've generally still been able to fit all my camping gear inside it. It'll seat up to 4 people more comfortably than a S/C Ranger too.

I've had both and while the Ranger is more practical, the BII is more fun to drive.

Either one, if you get a 1989-1992 Ranger or '89-'90 BII, swapping a 4.0 in is not too difficult a task.

I swapped my tired 2.9 for a 4.0 in my Ranger and couldn't be happier with the results.

I can only imagine that a lighter BII would be even more of a hoot.

Best thing about the BII whether trail riding or mall crawling, is the amazing turning radius. It'll fit ANYWHERE!

My old BII. Man, I miss this truck :bawling:
